Having trauma isn’t an excuse to be a terrible person and an abuser

You are right. What about the other side trauma? The experience and nightmare? You are only looking at one side of the coin. At least we got to see both of their past experiences. This is not only ones fault problem. They lack communication and understanding. If this is real life and you are the relative you are definitely sitting in a therapy council.

You’re awfully poor at reading if you think it’s bad communication and it goes ‘both ways’. He approached her with deception to exact revenge. He shut her out despite her willingness to understand all his actions. He refused a proper relationship with her but also refused a divorce, and on top of that planned to keep her miserable beside him.
As I said in another comment, he s a victim. But in the contect of their relationship, Heiner is not a victim at all. If you think his trauma is any pity or understanding for the one sided abuse he had on Annette then this is an enabling point of view. To suggest ‘sorting it out’ or ‘communicating’ as a solution in the first place despite Heiner’s clear intentions of abusing her anyway is an unfair and insincere conclusion, especially when he drove her to attempted suicide twice. Suicide. And now here he is claiming she never loved him and doesn’t understand. Hah. As if. Again, Heiner is an unfortunate soul who’s been horribly abused. But in this relationship with Annette, he’s the devil.

My experience in Syria during 2012 war didn't make me a poor reader. In fact it made me see what war really means compared to pampered people like you. That's the reason why I said I sympathize with the ML. You never saw an orphan Syrian child in refugee camp. Now that I'm working in a PTSD facility care I understood better what it means to live in a daily life hell. ML's past started during childhood and he knows nothing about the warmth of the FL's family has. It's not the FL's fault that he suffer but most of the times someone's ignorance is like a dagger for a person who cannot even explain him/her self.
The only good thing for you that this is a fictional story and you won't experience how it is like to hallucinate like someone or people shouting at your ears angrily even though your place is at peace.

I apologise for your experiences but that still doesn’t change your poor point of view regarding the female lead, especially with your other comments around suggesting you think the female lead should have ‘tried to understand him more’.
It’s not really a response for you to say ‘I experienced trauma and you didn’t’ despite you knowing absolutely nothing of my real life experiences. The ML’s actions are pitiful, and I do understand why he’s acting the way he does. I’m sure everyone reading the story understands. That doesn’t make him any less of an abuser towards the female lead, and to say ‘they lack communication and understanding’ is redundant considering how much she tried to understand him during the course of their marriage which he never tried to give her the opportunity to. Because their marriage is a sham in the first place. He approached her with malicious intentions (regardless of how much he actually liked her). Annette knows she’s never going to fully understand. She knows her background, she knows what she has to come into terms with. And I’d say she’s been trying her best at deconstructing her sheltered life. From this point in the story the male lead is the one who isn’t trying to understand her, and that’s why despite how interesting their recent argument is, he’s still being selfish in the way he accuses her. He’s created an image of her in his mind that he keeps going back to and refuses or at least struggles to take it apart
Everything you want the female lead to do she already has done. You’re being overly empathetic to the male lead in the context of their relationship, a place where only he is the abuser

I don't think I have that "poor pov" I sympathize to the ml as much a I sympathize with the FL. I am do understand both suffering and the characters behavior as a result. As I said experience I had made me see the two sides of coins. Blaming one because you think the other is wrong is totally off. The characters lack communication and understanding it's not only ones fault. Though I know both ended both happy.
Note. I never mentioned it was FL's fault. It's just in real life I know how painful ignorance is.
KILL HER!!
