But I honestly just find Yohan frustrating and annoying at this point. Like, he lets people treat him like shit because he blames his brother's actions for his parents divorce?? As if they were happily married before then? Like, I know I'm supposed to be sympathizing with him, but maybe I'm just too old for this. I only started this manga for the smut and sex buddies to lovers shit and I'm not getting it (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
I did. I also saw where he blamed his brother for his parent's divorce and told his brother that he didn't want to be like him as if that was an explanation for not standing up for himself. He has a lot of growing up to do and I'm no longer sure if I want to stick around for the journey. Sorry ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Like obviously Riftan doesn't understand her trauma and they're both so bad at communication that of course she's going to take all of this so badly. I personally think it's obvious that he's not angry at her, he's worried and upset that he came home to chaos and his love possibly endangered, but obviously that's because I'm on the outside looking in. I just can't wait for him to truly understand what her father did to her and how his anger can be misconstrued and cause her to fear him. But then I also think he needs to get better at controlling his emotions so that his worry doesn't come out as anger. Like I feel like men don't always get how their outbursts/anger can really traumatize women- though honestly they should. It's just heartbreaking, but something tells me that he'll change once he knows. He seems like that kind of guy. And I have a ~thing~ for love interests who seem scary to everyone but then get soft around their lovers <3
THIS!
all she knows is anger and abuse, and him having outbursts because he's worried or stressed doesn't help the situation.
They both need to communicate, but I get why it's taking them so long to. They both have their own sides of the story, and they're nervous and new to marriage and don't have much reason to suspect it's miscommunication.
Riftan just thinks she's somewhat spoiled and haughty. And she just assumes that he doesn't like her and will beat her like her father did.
Love your analysis. I'm really excited to see how this plays out.
I don't understand why this guy cares HOW she knows what she knows. Instead he should've just spoken to the blonde guy (whose name I've conveniently forgotten) in the beginning about boundaries and shit. Actually... he should've just recommended blonde guy get some motherfucking therapy and just stayed out of this weird ass relationship. Like I know he didn't mean to be creepy but what did he fucking expect was going to happen when he showed up at his fuck buddy's job randomly like that???
Jihyun you mean (blondie). Well it’s a Public workplace, not just jihyun’s. And Jihyun never said anything about Yohan can’t come to his workplace.
Jihyun wouldn’t wanna talk since he’s fucking running away without hearing Yohan out so how do you expect a naive man (Yohan) who has never been in a relationship to know what to do?
I was enjoying this initially , but Riftan's "cute" overprotectiveness is quickly becoming abusive and I'm no longer having fun... I was hoping that he would lift her up to become stronger and help her along her development into a badass female character. I was hoping this was just a bump in the road and it would get better, but according to some of the comments I shouldn't hold my breath. ╥﹏╥
He desperately wants her to live a life with no hardships. It's a constant struggle for him, and becomes exceptionally hard when...
.... spoilerssss
She she nearly loses her life. (On multiple occasions) which leaves him traumatized.
He does get better, he acknowledges her growth and comes to terms that she is an asset. Though yes he would still prefer she's way out of harms way, he doesn't get so anal about it anymore. So yeah he is showing character growth by recognizing his unbearable overprotectiveness actually hurts Maxi.
Sidenote: Although Riftan is kindhearted deep down (he cares about his comrades + ppl of anatol) I feel like If Maxi wanted the world to burn, he'd set it ablaze no hesitation.
If you've read the light novel version of this story, or even if you haven't, I recommend reading the side story, 'riftan'sPOV'. Its the story of his childhood(tragic) and everything leading up to his marriage to maxi. I don't know why it's a side story since you can't help but hate riftan without it and it's probably more relevant to their character arcs than half the stuff in the main story.
