Whose Baby is it?
LOOOOOng explanation,
there wasn't any surrogate mother, this was In vitro fertilization (IVF). It really is a thing and simply put: you need donated reproductive cells (egg, sperm) to create a baby in a lab. (I really simplified it and please no judgement, it made so many infertile families happy)
In this story:
1. An IVF lab got a donated egg and ferilized it with Yiyun's sperm, on Yiyun's request => Yiyun's embryo
2. An IVF lab also got a donated egg and fertilized it with Feng Jinyao's sperm, on his request => Jinyao's embryo
3. this is where plotwists happen. Jinyao is the firstborn of his generation, so he has Feng's birthmark, the mark that says he's the next heir to Feng's family. He, as the next head of family, needed to produce an heir. We know our boy has no love life, so he reaches out to IVF.
4. He knows he has many greedy family members and is very cautious, so he did a thing and that is: he switched his embryo with Yiyun's embryo => Yiyun's baby is under Feng's name. Feng's baby is under Yiyun's name.
5. So Rourou is really only Feng's blood, no Yiyun's blood BUT (HUGE BUT), NO ONE EVER DARE TO TELL THEM IT'S NOT HIS SON, WHEN HE HAS CARED FOR HIM AND FED HIM AND CLOTHED HIM, WATCH HIM GROW UP! nuh-uh!!
6. anyway, Rourou has the Feng's birthmark, so he is rightfully the next Feng's heir.
7. the thing is, Feng's greedy family member were really terrible. They (we now know that it's Feng's aunt) stole embryo, that was under his name, which was actually Yiyun's embryo.
8. fast forward now. We can see the aunt, trying to introduce the next Feng's heir to her grandpa. But nono, this boy is not even Feng and we know our greatgrandpa Feng has some spiritual power and is like: GRANDDAUGHTER, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE TRYING TO DO HERE?
9. our lovey-dovey couple, they actually talked it out and Jinyao told Yiyun the truth. He was mad but they need to focus on the present (and please, we know our baby bighead will soon join the family and they'll become a family of four)
