I can’t believe my analysis ended up being right. This was a story of abuse and Chiwoo finally acknowledged it after such a long time. I’m incredibly proud of his growth. I wish I could say I cared about Jihyuns growth but I really don’t. He can work on himself, but as a victim been of abuse it’s kinda hard for me to care..........and the fact that he really did rape Chiwoo leaves an awful taste in mouth. Hopefully Chiwoo can move on and be guilt free now and enjoy the rest of his life....
also think it’s funny that Jihyun is blaming his dad for how he turned out, yes his father was abusive and sucks, but how you choose to navigate the world around you is still your choice. He chose to be violent, he chose to beat up people that got close to Chiwoo, he was actually very sadistic about the whole thing til the very end. If Chiwoo hadn’t shown up he was going to watch as people broke Kyujins limbs....he only feels guilty and terrible now cause Chiwoo is finally over it. He didn’t even feel guilty for raping him, like..................
Just because you suffer from abuse or trauma does not mean you get to place that violence on someone else. Hurting someone you supposedly love and going out of your way to keep them isolated is not love. It is an unhealthy, toxic obsession. So yes his dads a dyck, but he’s pretty bad too.

All that drama for her to still be a maid, but at least Alejandro didn't attempt to see her at all in those 3 years, so yay for growth. Finally, he'll be 19 when they meet again
Alright, I saw spoilers for the future chapters based on the novel and yea, Ibelina is um, well yall look at the spoilers yourself. Hate that the writer decided to take this route.

Shiiiiit, that means it's definitely going the "I can change the route of the story, wowza" revelation route after all, she'll see that even red head likes her when she's a maid and be like "Oh ma gad, it's possible for me to love him publicly after all" like come on dred, when it's executed well it's great but ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ oh well

I actually really like this and I hope it continues to be fleshed out. I'm all for slow burn romances if done right. Tamaki has a lot of things he needs to work on, but the problem is no one knows he needs to work on those things besides us, the readers.
It's fine to feel uncomfortable by Shi's advances, but also important to remember that Shi has liked Tamaki since they were kids and like someone mentioned below, he's never been in a relationship with anyone, so not only is he exploring his sexuality hand in hand with Tamaki, he's also navigating his first relationship and he just happens to be a very forward person. In addition, he has no idea that Tamaki has trauma around women and sexuality in general. Even Tamaki doesn't understand, so it's impossible for them to have a conversation if He himself doesn't think there's anything "wrong" with him. Shi's advances in the relationship is what will finally bring those thoughts to light, if done right, and I believe that's what the mangaka is doing.
Also Shi and Tamaki are very honest with each other, as in they both aren't afraid to say whats on their mind. I don't really see that as manipulation on either end, its actually a good quality to have in a relationship. The only reason it feels like that to people is bc we know Tamaki's back story. If we didn't we'd just think he was shy. All in all, Shi is still in the process of accepting his sexuality and Tamaki literally has no idea what's going on with him on a psychological level. I understand people's fears, but I definitely don't think this story will have rape in it. It wouldn't work knowing his past.

It would be one thing if he had no idea she was in a “relationship” fyck buddies or not, it’s clear she likes him, so why is he trying to butt in and taking advantage of her naivety. The male lead is a better character cause he doesn’t take advantage of her and tries to help her

And does he know that?!
As far as he knows the ML is totally using her as a fck buddy and she’s the poor girl that’s actually in love. It would be totally understandable that he might think he’s the better option.
Of course if he keeps trying and getting in the way once he knows how they both feel then I’m going to stop feeling sorry for the poor guy who’s off to get his heart trodden all over

Also comparing Jihyun to He Tian is disrespectful lol. He Tian is a saint.

He Tian is from19 Days. I think the comparison comes in because He Tian used to bully a red headed character he likes to call Little Mo. Mo use to be a bully as well. So that’s why people compared Jihyun to He Tian and the red head character in this one with Little Mo.

What Jihyun said in ch. 37 about Chiwoo always forgiving him no matter what he did is clear foreshadowing. Chiwoo isn't going to forgive him this time around and while it sucks for him, it's necessary. No matter how you look at it, this is a story of abuse and not redemption. Maybe redemption in that Chiwoo can finally move on and accept that Jihyun is who he is , and for Jihyun letting go of Chiwoo and accepting that he hasn't been a great person and finally grow up. This needs to happen while they're away from each other and maybe they can meet 10 years later as friends or never meet again, it is what it is.
I say abuse because outside of the physical abuse, Jihyun literally meets all the requirements of a textbook abuser:
1) he uses his strength as a way to intimidate anyone around Chiwoo, either by "stealing" away his girlfriends or beating up the guys that want anything to do with him.
2) in doing this, he essentially isolates Chiwoo from others, making it so that he only has Jihyun in his life and no one else.
3) When Chiwoo finally calls him out on something, instead of taking blame, he manipulates the situation and makes it so that Chiwoo feels guilty for being upset and so Chiwoo doesnt stay as mad, when he should be. He does this by basically minimizing all the fycked up shyt he's done.
4) Even the way Chiwoo stood by Jihyun after getting severely beaten up and saying "Jihyun isn't like that" is abuse victim 101.
If they had actually dated, who knows how much worse it couldve gotten. All in all to the people that read this, please watch out for signs of abuse be it in your life or in the lives of your friends and family. It is not always physical.

THANK YOU! I know this is "just" a webtoon, that people can get a redemption or idk what, but this isn't it and I've seen so many problematic comments here, defending Jihyun and worst, blaming Chiwoo for his behavior. When Jihyun is nothing less than an abuser. I'm sure that if it was a story about a girl and a man, and that the man acted the way Jihyun acted, everyone would see how abusive was this kind of behavior. But here, everyone are suddenly blind about that, because people love seeing story with "friends to lovers" trope? Or I don't know. Anyway, thank you for saying all of this. #TeamChiwoo

Agreed. He also preyed on these troubled students. He knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s calculating. Knowing if he did the deed himself, he’ll get in trouble and probably expelled so he roped in these students and offered to pay them money to do the dirty work. No care what so ever that this would probably ruin their life, getting expelled from school. He’s just terrible, and extremely selfish. He needs to just go far away from everyone, especially Chiwoo.

Why is Ibelina suddenly forgetting that in the novel, Elenora never falls in love with Alejandro, so he ends up doomed by his unrequited love, the curse returns, and he dies at the end of the story???? I would rather she had left cause she straight up didn't have feelings for him, but for her to act like she's trying to follow the novel when the whole reason she wanted to help him was to prevent his harsh reality is the dumbest thing I've ever read.
She wants to push Alejandro to Elenora when Elenora is STILL gonna end up with Diego and she's already removed the cause of Alejandro falling in love with Ele in the first place. This is really just poor writing on the writers part because I refuse to believe she's this dumb. She cant say she wants to change the story for Alejandro to get a happy ending, actually change the story, then want it to end the same way..........

I get this. Like Id take it if in the original story, Alejandro is the one who ends up with the heroine but we all know he is destined to not be with her. Like the more logical choice is to stay by Aljeandros side (in whatever capacity even if not as his lover) or in any of the other characters side actually. Her leaving or not doing anything is just the same as following the novel's flow. Like if she thinks Alejandro should be with the heroine, it would make more sense for her to try to be his wingman so she'd fall in love with Ale instead of Diego. This is such a huge plothole right here

The way some of y’all are convinced that Kyujin is psychotic cause he has one selfish thought is so funny to me and let him be clingy gah damn. Jihyun is just as clingy but y’all don’t give a damn. Many of y’all are heavily biased, it’s actually wild.
Edit: I'm getting downvoted by Kyujin antis which is fine, but the point im making is being "annoying"/ "clingy" is not toxic. Even Chiwoo was slightly disappointed when Kyujin didn't ask to go home together (ch.36). You cant project how you'll feel about Kyujin on Chiwoo, when he himself has no problem with his clinginess. We've all read the same manhwa. Chiwoo's only problem was being worried about how Jihyun was gonna react to them together, but it's very clear that Chiwoo and Kyujin have mutual feelings for each other. It's just not given the chance/ explored because of Jihyun's intervention.

I honestly don't get it either. Every reason theyre naming are things they wouldnt mind in other semes, like there are genuinely worse semes out there, but here they're trying to pick at everything he says and does for no reason. Even in Ch. 36, Chiwoo was hurt/ surprised when Kyujin didnt ask to go home together. Does that sound like someone who is annoyed? No, but here people are heavily projecting

Well, we all know there is a reason. They have a bias and want Chiwoo to end up with his rapist. They find anything, even the smallest of things that basically equate to a minor character flaw, and spin it as as something big and horrible. Being clingy (he does this in a cute way and not in a possessive way) does not make a person toxic but that word gets thrown around to describe him. Because he smiles a lot, since he's generally a nice and friendly guy, they suspect he's secretly a psycho. Though he has never said or did anything (even his inner thoughts) that would indicate he has ulterior sinister motives. Projecting is correct.
I mentioned this before but Chiwoo probably feels way more attached to Kyujin than he realize or is willing to admit. He's disappointed from just not being able to walk home together. In fact he anticipate that they would walk him together but didn't expressed annoyance or frustration about doing it. Honestly Chiwoo was doing well in the beginning. He was adjusting school, started to socialize with other students, and Kyujin was helping him in that as well as school stuff. If Jihyun hadn't shown up, then he would have had a normal school life. But then again, this particular story wouldn't exist.
But the more I think about it, the more pissed I get now that it’s been confirmed Jihyun raped him.....he really thought he could walk right back into Chiwoos life and be buddy buddy. His first words to him weren’t even an apology, like he really was a piece of shyt after committing such a heinous crime to someone he considered a friend and someone he loved. Do you know how fycked up you gotta be to rape someone while they’re bleeding nonstop from their face and glass shards in their back?!?!?! I’m sick all over again. It’s fyck Jihyun
He may not have committed murder, but he deserved to go to prison
I'm glad that at least it wasn't like those toxic mangas when they still got together after the rape and all, Chiwoo knew that they need a clean break
I agree. I actually really like how the writer did this.
Yes, I was afraid it was going to end that way at first. But as I read on, I realized Chiwoo never showed the slightest bit of romantic feelings for Jihyun. He was clearly terrified, and now it’s confirmed why he was so traumatized. His best friend raped him. I think the story portrayed realistic emotions and reactions for the most part. Unlike most yaoi, Chiwoo didn’t fall in love with his rapist and abuser.
And Jihyun, who’s manipulative and violent is pretty much the same way throughout the story. People with that kind of personality can’t just flip a switch and turn “good” because of “love”.
What chapter did he get ?raped?
im afraid i missed something, i thought it was attempted rape (not that that makes it any better) where was it confirmed that it was full on rape?
Apparently the author confirmed it in a post. But in chapter 41 Chiwoo all but says the word when talking about what happened.
Here, you can see his pants is off in the second panel http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/back_to_school/uu/iur_chapter-41/pg-30/
ah thanks
also even back then it looked like he's fixing his pants on the first panel http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/back_to_school/uu/iur_chapter-19/pg-2/ . i guess that's the only amount of hint the author could give for a manga that supposed to be non-explicit.
OH MY GOD, NO....... NO.......... ALL THIS TIME I WAS JUST THINKING THAT JIHYUN WAS A POS WHO HARASSED CHIWOO SEXUALLY....... NO..........
