I feel like I've been searching for a yuri like this my whole life lol!!! It's so difficult to find a yuri that writes women so realistically with complexity, and especially in a way for other lesbians to relate to. (AND an age gap?!! seriously I stumbled upon a gold mine!!) The smut scenes are amazing and passionate. The story has such a grip on me!! I found myself tearing up so much! I relate so much to Doyeon it's insane. (the whole, being overly nice because I feel like people will hate the real me) Anyway PLEASE read this if you're looking for a good yuri!!! PLEASE

As a comic artist, I really want to let something out, and I'm not shaming anybody, I just want people to know the experience working as a comic artist since I haven't seen anybody mention this when conversations like these arise. Generally speaking, despite how difficult and how much work goes into drawing each and every comic panel and character interaction, doing comics will hardly make you a decent living. These webtoon artists are as close as any aspiring comic artist can get to making a standard wage. Even though when I come home from work, I barely have the time to work on anything else but my comic or anything art related, and yet I still don't work nearly as hard as these manhwa artists do. If you compare webtoons to Japanese manga, their work is in color, and from what I can see, most of these artists not only do the linework, they also do the color, shading, and backgrounds all by themselves. That's hours of work weekly. In mainstream American comics, sketches, inks, and colors have separate artists to lessen the workload. Not to mention if you take a look at a Japanese mangaka's schedule, (and I'm guessing for webtoon artists it's probably the same) its CRAZY. ( https://i0.wp.com/www.comicsbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/work_work.jpg) Out of an entire week most mangaka's only have about 3 HOURS of free time to do what they want, such as spending time with family/friends or maybe going to a store. The rest is spent working on comics. Artists who draw full time are at risk for carpal tunnel syndrome, hemorrhoids and even more health issues due to how many hours of prolonged sitting is involved in drawing. The sad thing about supporting Japanese mangas is that there are hardly many official releases anymore, especially for BL, (besides June manga who sells ebooks and mangas) but with Lezhin, this is the CLOSEST us foreigners have ever gotten to DIRECTLY supporting the artists. The coins we spend are going directly to them.

I draw my comic in color and can only update it once a week. I've been sharing it online for free for about 3 years now, which has been a great experience since I get to see what people think about my work, but it's also very difficult because truthfully out of about 1300 people who read, only three people support me monthly which amounts to $6 a month. I use the money from my own paycheck to cover printing costs and bind the books myself. I doubt I'll be able to sell very many of my books, but I have faith I can sell a few. I get ad revenue money/tips from the website I host it on, but after two years, I've only gotten $25. It's at least something which is good, but I can't lie and say I don't feel awful sometimes. I can't help but wonder if there will ever be a day somebody will love my story as much as I love the comics I admire and own physical copies of.

However, the difference between my comic and these webtoons is I don't charge my comics, they make a product and are trying to sell it outright, like a video game. (video games do so well financially, and yet nobody wants to buy comics they enjoy, lol?) Due to how many hours they take sketching, drawing, coloring, and sitting at their desks for hours, they are charging for their hard labor, and I can't blame them. Unlike me they don't have a supplemental income from a job, making comics IS their job.

Like I said in the beginning, I'm not trying to shame anybody, but I really felt compelled to stick up for these foreign artists due to my own experiences making comics. I hope this can shed some light for people who aren't artists themselves because it's a tough world to make comics, or rather, making any form of art really.

If you can't support artists and creators, it's completely understandable. Though I'd love to, I myself can't always support every comic I read, and I'm not rich from my part time job (and barely off my art) so I do what I can. Still, let the artists around you know you appreciate their work, especially the ones you can communicate with in the same language. There are PLENTY of FREE english webtoons out there that are BL. Look up BL webcomics and see what strikes your interest. Comment on these comics and tell them how much you enjoy them. And as for the manhua/manwha's, you can always view the free chapters so that the website can at least get views, or you can even follow the artists on twitter if they have any social media. Thanks for reading!

I legit was about to comment about like " if you don't have money then comic artist too. Your not the only one" to someone and you just said everything I ever wanted. yEs! Thank you. I'm an artist myself and even attempting** a comic kills me so comic artists really have my cOMplete respect, I worship you guys.
