From what i know, their love story would progress towards the latter portion of the novel. You wouldn't see them together until a gate covering the whole city would appear. While waiting for the gate to open, he decided to ask hunter Cha to spend the day with him. Visiting the theme park where he last saw his dad. Seeing how hunter cha is not getting any excitement from thrilling rides, he thought to himself 'ofc, they're S Rank hunters fighting monsters!!! Riding a roller coaster isn't much of a thrill!' So he decided to summon kaisel a they flew to japan in extreme speed and had lovely date stargazing. Sealing the night with a kiss.
The epilogue and the side stories, in contrast, are full of their romance. Since the world went back 10 yrs ago, before dungeons appeared, he looked for the young hunter Cha.
