I think the hate against yaoi is so unwarranted because the toxicity in yaoi is found in every other genre but for some reason yaoi is always being signaled out. I honestly 100% believe that the hate is rooted in misogyny because yaoi/bls are targeted towards a female audience and is created by women. People just see women like a certain thing and decide to hate on it. Like do y’all not think who brought bls/yaoi to be where it is now..?
Obvi, I’m not defending everything that happens in yaoi because yeah it’s fucked up. But people on here act like yaoi is the devils creation and shit like that. The same things you see in yaoi, I guarantee you’ll it in yuri and any straight story but the energy is never the same.
And before y’all be like “omg it fetishizes gay men” STFU. The people I see hating aren’t even gay nor a man and y’all speak for the whole community like they all agree. Yaoi is no different from any other story with the difference only being the between two men.

Loud and wrong, what?
Most of the BLs that are given to us is for the artist to vent their rape fetish. It’s more of the people who enjoy it and the author as a team. Yes it also happens in yuri but BL is 10x worst.
Yuri is popular but isn’t as popular, why? Because it doesn’t have “hot” men who are fucking crazy and pathetic/psycho.
Why are most popular BLs fkin trash? Because people are into it for the wrong reasons, (cough,) rape/SA, (cough.) It’s not just that problem when it comes to BL it’s the people who back it up because, “it’s simply not real.” NEVER heard that logic from anyone else BUT a BL fan.

Don't use the "misogyny card." Popular yaoi nowadays are just trash, accept this and quit defending them. There's no reason for you to defend Fap materials. If criticizing Yaoi is misogynistic, then I'm misogynistic toward my own gender. And how dare you bring yuri into this? That genre lacks exposure since the industry fails to see it as profitable as yaoi in a market full of fujoshis.

So because it has no exposure.. you’re saying yuri has nothing toxic in it? Okay…
Not EVERY yaoi is good, there is a lot of bad stories. But so does every other genre. Yaoi at the end of the day is ONE genre with whatever preferences and shit people want on it. If you don’t like it then go cry abt it

If a person is reading yaoi for the reason SIMPLY because it has rape/sa/etc then that person is at fault. There are so many other yaois that treat it as something problematic and serious. I literally only mentioned yuri once lol and if u don’t like those intense yaois then leave??? I’m not wrong in saying what you’ll see in yaoi you’ll see in everything else. It’s just sex

Your argument was that the hatred for Yaoi stemmed from the fact that they were created by women for women, and you used this to justify the toxic narratives. Not only did you try to use the misogynistic card, but also the "homophobic card" by saying "Yaoi is no different from any other story with the difference only being the between two men." There is no reason for you to defend rape and SA in fiction, no matter what genre, so why are you so triggered when you see negative opinions about r*pe?

Gurl if your talking about people either speaking out on how bl glorified rape and talking about how it so normalizing then keep ur mouth shut. The reason why ppl started to "hate" bl in your eyes is because they realize the toxic stereotypes in bl. If you have to include a rapist who "feels bad" to move your story along, your story sucks and you have zero fucking business writing about marginalized people. Majority of bl are rated 9.0 or even more. Shit like sadistic beauty is only rated at 7.4 while its BL side story is rated at 8.1. Even though they both have low ratings, it's troubling that both glorifying rape but one rates higher. Shit like "The Devil You Know" and "I Have To Sleep With A Stranger" Are the exact same thing. They have a psycho ML who doesn’t take “No” for an answer. Yet there is an obvious a double standard between straight/GL and BL. I don't know where your getting ur info but if you look at smut manhwa that are straight/GL most comments talk about the normalizing rape and how weird it is. Yet if you look at bl that does the exact same thing there are comments such as "Damn love this duo <3 NEED MORE!!!!" , "Ohh.. Soo excited for many many chapters this" and there are even "so we just gonna ignore his assaults because he hot? yes yes we are", and tagged like "RAPE TO LOVE" shit like these make no sense.
I agree that the hate against BL is unwarranted but there are people out there that like the rape or assault bc they like how the sex was like or how when the ML is acting possessiveness toward the mc because it "cute" and "love" is fucking weird. Jealousy and possessiveness is not cute and is not love. it is an excuse for manipulation and control. The non-respect of consent and violence is never justified. Insults, pressure, humiliation, blame, is violence. I agree that the hate against bl is unjustified but if you think that bl get more hate when many bl are rated 9.0 or 8.9 which fucking include those toxic stereotypes then I don't agree with you. I mean look at "Waterside Night"
If you know and realized that it glorifying rape or even have toxic stereotypes then say it? Because if you only do this on straight manhwa and I click on ur pfp and you rate a BL 5 stars that glorified rape i will fucking beat you up. Both should be held to the same standards and criticized accordingly. There is definitely a double standard between straight manhwa and BL.

I mean look at how this weirdo is

"I’m just giving tips to the author to make the story better? Bl always makes it better" comments like these are the reason why I fucking hate bl. It because of bl manhwa that glorify these toxic stereotypes make reader act like they know it all. Gurl it embarrassing and what even more embarrassing is them thinking there always right and then playing as the victim or acting like there the main character bc 2 guys are fucking.

Okay you just made shit up because all I’m saying is the hate for yaoi is not all across the board compared to other stories. If someone were to criticize a story because it has rape or other crimes then I would understand. But people literally read straight stories and yuri on here with the same material but no one says anything. If you go on any comments on this site and even out of it, people will literally come at you. I’ve seen so many women just simply discuss a bl/yaoi and get flamed online because they’re a woman reading a yaoi. Which people bring up as a reason so my “feminism” that you hate sm isn’t something that I made up.

totally. a lot of the times BL does include a lot of toxic stuff, but the whole genre CANNOT be held to the same standard. young adult (straight) smut stories include lot of the same toxic themes, but the whole genre isn't flamed for it? a lot of the bad in the whole community stems from exactly what that other user was talking about when commenters acknowledge the rpe/SA and still approve of it. some of these stories are genuinely good about not containing toxic themes, even better so than some other genres sometimes, but no one seems to care about those and instead generalize everything altogether. there are absolutely way too many stories nowadays just relying on themes of SA/rpe though, I do agree with that and hope it changes in the future. And yeah, the whole "fetishizing gay men" thing seems to be just something people use to argue. People literally fetishize anything in any kind of romance media, think of prnhub or like any other obscene media... it's not good of course, but there's no reason for BL/yaoi to be labelled as "THE" fetishizing genre when it happens everywhere.

there have been so many people literally saying death threats to women especially on twt for simply READING yaoi. not once did this post mention defending rape, this is not abt rape but abt ppl who shame women for reading BL/yaoi.
if u do not believe women r being sent death threats for this just search on tiktok and twitter and type “fujoshi”

Bec Bara nd yaoi r more diff since u said that it's mostly made by men well of course it's going to be different since bara made by gay men for gay men and its more of a realistic story unlike yaoi that is very unrealistic and ik what ur talking abt bec there's also alot of men fetishizing lesbian relationships,,, they fetishised r*pe, toxic relationships , age gaps (ex. 16 and 30) and ik these also happens to other genre.. annd most ppl hate fujoshis bec they r the annoying type since they always find a way to be annoying nd force ships that isn't Canon at all ex.(bakudeku) ,,especially if they would go around a straight romance nd wished it was yaoi?? Additionally, I'm simply talking about how most YAOI romanticize toxic relationships and fetishize gay relationships, which are based on manipulation and lack of consent but are always perceived as really hot and sexy.

Yeah, the tropes that are so heavily criticized are not something exclusive to BL, they're just as popular outside of it. Just look at straight smut. Age gaps, obsessiveness and jealousy and sa are all tropes that you can find in booktok's favourite romances. And I won't say that "no one bats an eye then" but people making BL out to be some horrid genre and talking like it has nothing else to offer are ridiculous.
I’ve just started reading the Nerd Project and the reason why I put it off for so long was because I thought it was a story I read before, only to find out that I was thinking of a completely different story.
Even the characters had similar hair colors with the MC having grey/silver hair and the ml having brown/black-ish hair with bangs over his eyes. The only differences I can remember is that the MC was cocky and narcissistic and had to do a project with the ml for school. He notices that the ml is really hot and tries to “fix” him or just show off his handsome face idk. Along with him going to the ml’s house and finding out it’s a mansion and that he’s super rich.
I really want to know if this is real story or did I make this all up?? Does anyone know of this?
That’s so real lmao, imagine thinking you avoiding the most interesting story because you thought you already read it.
You can only imagine my confusion when I read the first chapter and it was completely different this is what I get for assuming man
Isn't the one ur describing like semantic error or smth, it sounds so similar but i genuinely forgot half of the the plot of that
I’m skimming through semantics error and I don’t know if
That’s the two characters they’re describing, but I’ll keep reading just in case (=・ω・=)
Yeah it’s not semantic error unfortunately
