So literally the duke ans the emperor sacrifice Scarlet to save the country, and CP just leave it be, and they said big things like they going to pay and live in hell who drived them to do this.
But guess what? They didn't saved the country, they delayed it's destroying. CP married with the b*tch, but he didn’t archived anything (the living best friend thought he having some plan when he married her), and currently the country at the verge of destroying once more, and guess who save the day?
