i just finished binge reading from the beginning, funnily it was after i saw a cute art of haeyoung biting haewon's cheek on the author's twitter. i'm writing to share how i think haeyoung's thought process operates and why he does the things he do, not that i support him, trying to defend him and/or justifying his actions.
haeyoung is very egotistical, prideful and possessive. he is a rich kid who has it all and he always establishes his position and power over others. he always wants to be in control. remember that old friend who touched haeyoung's thigh and got beaten up? he beat up that person because that person dared to take advantage of him and haeyoung is not someone who lets others take advantage of him. when haewon didn't reply to his texts, haeyoung's mind would've been like, "how dare he ignore me? who does he think he is? he should be the one worshipping me like a dog." but haeyoung doesn't simply beat him up and discard him, he tries to train him by beating him and then rewarding him with something sweet and being kind, reinforcing haewon to be obedient and to always come crawling back for the reward after he puts up with the pain.
haeyoung thought that haewon belonged to him, that haewon liked him and he was under his control. but behind his back, haewon had sex with their friend, and even gave him a BJ in his own house while haeyoung was there. and haewon kept it as a secret, leaving him in the dark, treating him like a fool. haeyoung felt disrespected and angry because haewon had a mind of his own and of course, had sex and experienced pleasure with another man.
everything that happened was for haeyoung to punish haewon and exert his control. he makes it clear to the other two that haeyoung OWNS him. he sets up situations to make it clear that he ALLOWS them to use his toy while turning sex into something painful for haewon, because haeyoung thinks of haewon as a slut. and it really did not help that haewon lied and said yes when haeyoung asked him if he had sex with all those men in his contacts. haeyoung feels betrayed and he didn't expect that haewon would have sex with hyunwoo. haeyoung was very clear on the phone that he didn't want hyunwoo to touch, look at or speak to haewon although haewon was the one on the phone. haewon had sex with hyunwoo anyways and haeyoung saw that as a slap in the face. to him, haewon claims he likes him but then he does these things that makes haewon feel like garbage.
not everyone here will relate but when someone finds out their close friend likes them and they like them too, quite a number of people would get upset if they found out that person was sleeping with all their mutual friends. but for a somewhat well adjusted person, even if they are an asshole, they register this as jealousy, possessiveness, and insecurity because they doubt whether that person's feelings are genuine. haeyoung is like that but he is also extremely vindictive and he is a psychopath. he feels like a victim in all of this. when haewon says he likes him, haeyoung thinks he's being messed with and that haewon does this with other men. haeyoung has a very twisted image of haewon because of everything that has happened and that's why the punishment has become so extreme, as he is desperate to reinforce his control over haewon that he feels like he has lost.
and the replacement friend is clearly him trying to hurt haewon and make haewon desperate to reclaim that place in haeyoung's life, making haewon not ever want to leave haeyoung even if he has to put up with so much abuse.
in haeyoung's mind, taegyeom started this first and in a way, it is true. taegyeom is the one who completely ruined haeyoung and haewon's dynamic in his mind. haeyoung feels like he was the one got hurt and treated like a fool.
this guy is a legit yandere interesting art style too. but ewwwww I didn’t need to see that ugly old man’s cheeks
so the evil and sexy boss side stories are beginning and i don't know if i should be excited or fear for the incoming headache... i actually enjoyed twisted characters like him in fiction and his obsessiveness with hyuk, since i like yanderes. but seeing a character like that end up with the person he used as a replacement just feels meh. like i'm not interested in dajeong at all, sorry. call me evil but there was a side story for a BL recently that explored "what if" scenarios, i would've been more keen on seeing the boss x hyuk get together in an alternate universe in a dark, yandere kind of style! lol.
