I hope that there isn't rlly any necessary drama between the three. All three of them are actually cute together. Unlike sadistic beauty and s flower, where the males are fighting for the female, two males actually being in a relationship (without a lot of jealously involved) is rlly refreshing. (〜 ̄ ♡ ̄)〜
Nonono. They don’t own the series and they can’t stop you. Unless they are working it on, it’s only fair you guys compromise some way or another, but they must have other projects to work on and you’re ahead of the translating. I think you’re doing nothing wrong! I’m grateful for these translations (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
This is really bad. I hope that he won’t end up with the black haired guy. He accused him of sexual assault, and that is something serious. I’m honestly angered when I was reading this. I hope that there’s some redemption for the character but it still won’t fix the damage being done. Think about the emotional and social damage to the guy. I’m so close to strangling this guy omfgggggggg ヽ(`Д´)ノ
Oof I think I may be dropping this. It was good at first but then the girl is just making it difficult for the male lead. It was just a dance and the male lead was trying please his dad, but she was like hahaha let me step on your toes. Like that ain't cute. Don't get me wrong I love dog/cat dynamic but somehow this was a turnoff. ┑( ̄▽ ̄) get ready for the incoming dislikes
I honestly don't get the amount of dislikes on your comment....I mean it's okay to have a little fight/competition but straight up trying to harm someone for no legit reason is mental just like that Von something girl trying to pick a fight with the princess...
Stepping on someone with that high heel should be rewarded with capital punishment
Yea I bet you like them weak female leads who fall in love with the men that rape them you that type of nigga
"the girl is just making it difficult for the male lead. " umm wut? he's planning on divorcing her and just playing along, shes doing the same but shes a bitch when she does it? nice double stardards
Lmao she’s insensitive. She rlly has to step on his toes when all he wants is to please his dad? Lmao not now sweetie, maybe later
thats what I mean. why is she obligated to care about what he wants or feels? she accepted the dance only because it would look bad for her but anything further really isn't to be expected when they are strangers.
Well atleast don't harm the said stranger when both are being forced into this mess.... If the role was reversed, with the Prince trying to step on MC, would your opinion remain the same? She could talk it out before resorting to violence.... Both the Prince and the MC are prejudiced against each other.... ( ̄∇ ̄")
She lacks the compassion to understand that he is just trying to please his dad and nothing else.
speaking of which some of his first thoughts about his future partner were: "I would love it if she were stupid extravagant and conceited. it would be perfect if she falls in love with my appearance, that way it would be easier to hurt her feelings and kick her out" lol he has ill intentions towards her before they had even met and didn't give a shit about what the others person circumstances were so why should she give him any special considerations? he's just as arrogant and selfish and I find it refreshing our female mc isn't just some doe eyed, naive, selfless, maiden type that always puts others before herself. its almost like woman cant be complex humans with flaws lol they can only be either victims or bitches in these type of stories, that the moral scaling. meanwhile all these male leads get to be as petty, vindictive, entitled tyrants, and these traits are sympathized with, its make them "interesting". "if the roles were reversed" there would probably be some tragic backstory waiting in store for us to explain away all his abusive behaviors in readers would eat it up and pity him. the heroine would be expected to forgive him because shes so oh so understanding and merciful like the virgin mary :)
he's entitled to more compassion and understanding even though he has yet to have shown her any such same regard? can you point out an example where he does something for her that isn't in his own self interest, because it would also be out of character for her to suddenly start being generous out of nowhere. she cant "lack" what she has never was shown to have to begin with.
If the rules were reversed and the male lead was actively trying to hurt the female lead, he would be considered a psycho. Trust me, there are other webtoons with those male leads and most of the readers do not like them and prefer other potential partners or want the female lead to be independent. This story is actually not unqiue in any way and there's more stories with dog/cat dynamics including a strong and complex female lead. Hahaha no said we hated them. Theres no such thing as a special consideration lolololol, just some understanding.
They are both in the same boat. He doesnt need to do anything for her and she doesnt need to do anything for him. That is in terms of being generous or going out of their way/character. Accepting a dance just to please others is not one example of doing something for self interest. No one is entitled to compassion but at least there should be a mutual understanding. It's not about deserving anything.
"They are both in the same boat. He doesnt need to do anything for her and she doesnt need to do anything for him. That is in terms of being generous or going out of their way/character. No one is entitled to compassion" exactly, then what should him wanting to please his father mean for her? it doesnt effect her on any personal level outside of just a means to keep up appearances for her own image but you said she should be "compassionate" towards him in an earlier comment. while the love between the father and son has been established threw this desire to please, these people to her are nothing but enablers that are pushing for a marriage she doesnt want and as it stands they dont know each other well enough yet to feel obligated to be considerate of each others feelings. that comes with time. I mean it nice if people do, but that level of emotional investment shouldn't just be expected from someone you have yet to establish any form of bond/connection with. as for an "understanding" I think if there is one between them, it's that they both agree they want nothing to do with either each other, or marriage. but that's it.
"there are other webtoons with those male leads and most of the readers do not like them" based on what, your own experience? there are plenty of manga's out there with a ML's that straight up rape the female lead, drug or even tries to kill them. this doesnt deter people from shipping them together no matter how stupid the story/plot is. rather the abuse female protags experience whether emotional or physical so often get taken for granted for the sake of [romance] the more people see and expect it from these stories, its normalized. the submissive female lead still ends up with the ML in the end. "If I just endure all of this pain maybe someday I can change him!" almost stockholm mentality. men being aggressively dominant when its about a woman they are sexually attracted to is just part of the act of wooing right? so its okay if he makes unreasonable selfish monopolizing demands as he feels he's entitled to her attentions and people still forgive this attitude its just "boys being boys" right? using this reasoning they can pass a lot of negative behaviors off as normal
I wasn't talking about dog/cat dynamics btw. I'm referring to female leads not always being portrayed in a morally virtuous sense, that may have pragmatic, selfish, or even manipulative personalities self admittedly. a female lead with a grey moral compass is hard to find in genres like shoujo that over capitalize on the innocent/naive pure aspects in female protagonists. our female lead here (when not in front of a full public audience) is considerably upfront of her rather self centered two faced and vain nature when around the prince or jealous fangirls instead of being ashamed or trying to hide it, its refreshing that shes honest about these sorts of traits that are usually crucified in woman
He doesn’t want to please his father, he is forced. Both are forced and they gain nothing from it in terms of self interest but to please society. It’s not about obligation but mutual understanding. I never said anything of about them having a compassionate relationship but in terms of her trying to be sympathetic towards the situation. There is a difference.
And yes from my own experience, as I have read much more webtoons than you have. Examples:
Lady to Queen, Beatrice, On the Emperor’s Lap, and The Abandoned Empress. Most readers do not like the ml for the horrible stuff they done. The submissive female lead ends up with them and? It is a big problem but most of audience knows it’s problematic as read from the comments.
Btw yes ik that you weren’t talking about the dynamics but you don’t have to be trivial over everything do we? It’s a detail that I added bc it’s related to this webtoon is it not? So you like females that are actually vain and manipulative. I would recommend My Dear Maria. It’s good webtoon. Anyways, those traits are generally not hated upon unless done well, like in this webtoon and in My Dear Maria. It’s one of those small actions that had turned me off, but she is a fun character.
"as I have read much more webtoons than you have" I'm genuinely interested in how you think you know that. I really hope your not just going off of the titles I have on my watchlist. I have about 8 others sites a frequent for this kind content (but pay for)
didn't the abandoned empress mc get raped and murdered too btw? and she ends up back with the dude who did all of that to her in end of the novel despite all the emphasis on "avoiding fate" I wouldn't have minded if there had been no romance at all tbh. the story had plenty enough there to keep me invested in it. its the ending spoiler that totally turned me off.
"but most of audience knows it’s problematic" then I found your "and" response rather dismissive of that very said problematic behavior. Chinese novels also have a lot of these recurring abusive rich ML tropes and they are at the top of the charts for what consumers ask for so I guess its just a fetish thing? girls with internal misogynistic ideas of woman's and men's roles. but generally the dude in the one with the power in the relationship, the girls are just a rugmat that gets tied to the back of his expensive looking car bumper and dragged around while he tells her how "special" she is to be able to touch his car ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
"ik that you weren’t talking about the dynamics but you don’t have to be trivial over everything do we? It’s a detail that I added bc it’s related to this webtoon is it not?"
yes it does relate to it but its not what I was referring too within the context of my previous point regarding the female mc's eccentric nature which you followed up for some reason by saying the story wasn't all that unique (something I never made a comment on) so it kind of felt like perhaps there had been a misunderstanding. hence, why such trivialities are important sometimes.
I'll check out the webtoon you mentioned, the title sounds familiar
I have read them, if you go to my bio you can see that I have read over 2000 manga since 2016. There are a lot of webtoons sprinkled in there. I have listed these webtoons but it seems that you are not very familiar with them. It convinces me that I have read much more. It's also rlly laughable that you think I named these webtoons off your list bc you can just go read them yourself and see for the comments yourself. And yes The Abandoned Empress is that kind of webtoon, but most of the readers do no like the ml. They see the ml as problematic. Chinese webtoons are also problematic and most on those webtoons get less than 9 stars. It is not dismissed at all bc ppl actually comment on the problems.
And it was just a small detail, that may not be related, but it related to this topic overall when I wanted to introduce something about a complex female lead. Nothing was misunderstood. You were just being trivial.
"I have read them, if you go to my bio you can see that I have read over 2000 manga since 2016. I have listed these webtoons but it seems that you are not very familiar with them"
yea.. good for you, want a sticker? so let me get this straight. you jumped to the assumption someone you dont know on the internet reads less then you because you 1. brought up a few webtoon titles you listed off in your post that 2. I chose to make no comment on? that doesnt prove I read less, but you conflated these two things to make some non objective conclusion. gotta say this whole "hurrdur since I read more then u" spiel sounds like ad hominem argument, rather then make any critical viewpoints of what was previously under discussion and stay on topic you derail the conversation entirely and settle for making random personal criticisms about the person instead. what was even the point of that? it was a completely unnecessary.
"It's also rlly laughable that you think I named these webtoons off your list" umm because I never did? go back and read it over. I said "if you had assumed I read less then you based on just the titles on MY watchlist" you might be jumping to incorrect assumptions ( -_-)..
"most on those webtoons get less than 9 stars" citations?
ranking isn't always synonymous with quality. what I meant by "dismissed" was that despite these problems it doesnt inhibit people from enjoying the story no matter how selfish, destructive, emotionally abusive or damaging the messages in these relationships might be sending to younger audiences, the [romance] proceeds all of these problematic issues, in the same way people might tolerate/ignore yoai with a crappy plot and unlikable characters to prioritize focusing on the [smut] in it instead. lots poorly written novels get a high ranking because so many people like hot garbage that's been recycled and spat out again and again.
if we are to continue this back and forth I'm going to need you to drop the whole reading experience high horse thing and be more respectful so as to not disparage my opinion or perspective view over petty things. if not, well we can always agree to disagree and leave it at that, saves me a from expending any further wasted effort.
I am just stating my opinions. No one is playing the vicitm here. Am I using my "reading experience" to belittle you? You really think I am on my high horse bc I read more? You can think what you think, but I am sure as hell not on a high horse. You want me to give you a trophy for the 8 websites you pay for? No one is trying to dismiss your opinion when we are talking about it rn. The reason why you have said you wasted so much effort is bc of your pettiness over every single thing I said. I criticized what you said and not your character. Isnt that an argument?
I named all those webtoons and it exactly proved my point of an audience criticizing a ml and not liking them. Not everyone is going to be sympathetic to a ml just bc of their backstory.
Yes stories can be problematic. Some people like it and know its problematic. Some people are ignorant and like it even if its problematic. Some people dont like it at all. That's the end of the story.
"Am I using my "reading experience" to belittle you? You really think I am on my high horse bc I read more? No one is trying to dismiss your opinion when we are talking about it rn. "
well yes. so what was the point of saying you've read more webtoons then me? bringing that up at all? I mean I know I said "based on what, your own experience?" in a past comment but you didn't to HAVE to follow that reply up with "I read more then u" (obviously) as if that's supposed to give more substantial sway to your opinion by devaluing mine. is this cause and effect really that hard to grasp?
"bc of your pettiness over every single thing I said." so apparently "pettiness" is just addressing things you said now.
I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree ( ̄▽ ̄) every time you post something I feel like I'm having a stroke straining myself to understand how you even come to these sorts of conclusions "no one is playing victim" ??? wut?
You are ignorant of some stuff. My experience, from reading more webtoons than you, allows me to dispute your claims that not everyone will suddenly be sympathetic to a character and how ppl are dismissive of it. Your experience may be different since you may be learning now. That is my experience, yours is yours. No one said that this is the reason why my opinion is better. There was a reason I showed you the examples. To prove it to you. There is literally nothing about me being on a high horse. I am not disparaging your opinion, so no one is the victim here. I am not the bad guy on this high pedestal you are imagining. Can you understand that? Did I have to add that? Yeah. Do I have to ask for your permission for it? No. I see no problem with it anyways.
You are petty. You are arguing over me saying "Ive read much more webtoons" when it meant nothing much. Saying "Oh btw I was not talking about that" and "ive never made a comment on that." I am just expanding on smth and how it was related. So apparently I cant, but you can do that and suddenly dive into how such things impact young audience and the bad message it sends. Did I comment on such messages? Did I ask you about the impact? Do think its necessary to explain when I never commented on it? Did we talk about yaoi? You are being a hypocrite.
