IMO the story is filthy and nasty - not in a sense of the story being bad, but the plot is about exposing the worst of humanity, showing evil, torment and madness. This art style fits it perfectly - it's just as nasty and filthy as the story itself. Although it is hard to follow and it takes some time to get used to it... That being said, the webtoon's art is too cute. I'm afraid they will tone down the plot to be less gore, not as bold and that will make it lose a lot of the uniqueness this story has to offer.

i read the webtoon a while back and looking back more closely at some chapters: while its more gorey than most webtoons/manhwas, its definitely more toned down compared to the manga and just doesn't feel as impactful despite being more put together story wise. like how they added extra story to the aegiana's knights and slightly altered their deaths. it gave them more character and would make you feel more for them when they died, but it just misses the mark? it just feels like "badass mc kills people again, time to move on." rather than actually displaying inori's cruelty and indifference to them as humans. like a telling, not showing. its hard to articulate but theres this clear lack of energy thats present in stories similar. where's my adrenaline rush for when mc unleashes his hidden power and bulldozes through enemy after enemy? they watered down inori lmao
to add on, during inori's confrontaton with aegiana, the webtoon cut out a lot the dialogue between them before they seriously fight and just makes aegiana out to just be very patriotic rather than an insane person who's fighting for a warped ideal of her country (although, the full fight hasnt been uploaded lol). and from how things are going, they probably won't address that part of her to make the story more cohesive or move along more smoothly?

i dont necessarily blame the people adapting the webtoon. webtoon is like an ages 12+ app, and their censorship is uber weird and heavily biased (like them adapting and allowing softcore porn but too much blood might get you sent to the shadow realm). it's just an odd move to adapt this novel into a webtoon despite already having a manga adaptation thats way ahead and to have it diverge like this is certainly a choice.

this has strayed far away from just the art LMAOO. the vibes are truly different and i dont think theres anything wrong with preferring the webtoon over the manga (despite the first part of this yap session). its just that this is my #1 indulgence manga and fits my tastes to a T so its like "when you love something sm that you cant stand any slander against it but you have to act like its okay"

+ imo, the fights and panel shots dont feel as dynamic, like they traded dynamic perspective for more special effects lmao because why is inori posed up like

What is weird for me is that in the Inori’s internal dialogue there’s still no mention of “must survive until sunset and then it’s showtime”. Maybe it’s mentioned in the paid chapters… Anyway he doesn’t appear as calculating, just a typical tsundere hero “I didn’t save you, I saved myself and you just happened to be near”. In manga it was way more “you can tag along, but if you die, then it’s on you”, it was shown more how reluctant he was for Aliyah to tag along.

That said, I kinda did expect for them to tone down the gory part, as you said it’s available for younger audience, but I don’t see enough of Inori’s ruthlessness, indifference and pure madness as he kills everything around - his character seems a lot more plain.
