Some tiktok girlies were complaining about the slow burn in SPY X FAMILY and tbh I don't blame them. Like the slow burn is burning slowlyyy, as in no smoke is currently in sight BUT I think this manga is more than just romance (obviously). I'm guessing that the mangaka is more busy on the action genre rather than romance and I ain't hating cause it do be banging. I just hope that in the near future we see progress between Yor and Loid.
I see what you mean but SPY X FAMILY is not romance focused because it's a shounen, so romance will be there to show some slice of life because people fall in love in their lifes... like idk how to explain it but its just a tool for the mangaka to fulfill the story that is not about romance. So I don't think I call this story a slow burn romance or some like that. But I get how some people might be frustrated for not seeing some cute scenes of Yor and Loid, cause I want some bread too
I think slow burn can only work w some stories and this is one of them. I will admit the pace of release is extra painful when it's a slower story, but 99% of the chapters are always worth the wait. The comment above also has such good points - this story is so much more than love imo - it's about war, trauma, finding happiness, making friends, & romaticizing relations of any kind (family, friends, lovers, b/w pets, etc) + action and badassness LMAO. Ofc it is always "best" when we get main family scenes but learning in depth about other characters personalizes and humanizes them further helping people maybe relate to the story better through the characters' experiences.
