wow that dinner scene is soooooo... sigh.
It was nice seeing all the kids getting to act like kids this chapter, tho i do wish for more plot heavy mini arcs like the one with ms. martha (and we even got to see devon desmond as a child!) I actually cried a bit with that arc.
I feel like with how fluff and domestic the chapters are lately and how overpowered the main cast is, we kinda downplay the fact that they're all still newly post-war and that tensions are still high between the countries. It makes me nervous because of just how real the commentary and dialogue and characters can be.
damn her comment "I still think there's better options out there ; I dont think I can support you. Sorry." IS SOOO HYPOCRITICAL.
Doesn't she realize that by doing all she did, she literally just gave them their first experience of homophobia in the town and thus made "dating in small town" hard??
Saying that there's still other options out there and its for their own good, who are you to say that? that hurt me incredibly as someone who's been hearing that since coming out ://
see, i would understand if all this was coming from a relative.
BUT SHE'S LITERALLY JUST THEIR NEIGHBOUR HSJSHSHAHSHBXHD
i get her whole "being different" spiel but she's literally just their neighbour im crying AJSJHSJAHHA
she was still wrong in setting up our ML for dating sites without his knowledge and being homophobic
can i just show my appreciation for this chapter pls? give it it's flowers and applause?
CAUSE WOW.
Truly, this is low hanging fruit. But for me to praise a manhwa that just reach it is actually telling of how bad the writing is in modern manhwa, or in literature in general. I know there are certain factors that play in key on the quality of writing and stuff that goes on behind the scenes of weekly/monthly manhwas but thats a comment for another day.
This chapter (chapter 60) and the chapters beforehand starting at the start of the season ARE SOOO GOOD.
The introduction of the angels as beings that lounge around in pajamas with messy hair and beings that pass around and push back work.
As beings that are technically, doing good by following the system they set up. but seeing these supposed to be empathetic and caring and helpful angels be soooo far removed from humanity, to see their work as just "paper work" and for them to instantly judge humans using scenarios that lack context and nuance. (The cover-up scenario where our MC doesn't even know what he's covering up for + the trolley problem, a philosophical moral test thats known to have varied reactions based on different variables (AKA NUANCE(WHICH THE SCENARIOS LACK))
All of this is to establish the fact that the system these angels, and in extension hell and the whole world, abides and run on is systematically flawed and that there may be others like our MC that are innocent but still implicated and we may just never know because of how flawed and broken the system is.
wink wink nudge nudge S.Korea's, or in general, the world's messed up justice system wink wink nudge nudge
The "Angels actually not good???" trope has been overdone but it doesn't mean it can't be done well.
IM SORRYY, im truly not smart enough coupled with the fact im writing this on no sleep at 5am. I wish i could go on and on but sadly this is it for now ill leave the rest to yall.
they're one of the few bl couples in manhwa that have the taller main bottoming without it being bara or weird and you lot want them to switch? now THATS the type of greed they talk about in the bible
