This is so damn nostalgic. Watched the anime in my early days of anime watching. It was my favorite for a while. I remember how the opening was so serious that I thought it was based off of a really serious manga, and then I reached the end and wanted more so I found the manga (and I realized it was just as lighthearted). The shounen ai label is false
I think I set a record for my fastest binge reading speed (finished this in 5 hours, it's currently 5 am and I want to kms). All in all, this was a great manga. I actually expected Taichi and Futaba to break up, since their relationship was cute but didn't seem sustainable. Taichi ending up with Touma was a huge surprise though (I was expecting Touma to have a tragic/bittersweet future, since that normally happens with gay characters in fiction). It wasn't a perfect ending by any means, but I really enjoyed this and I'm satisfied.
I should also add that I loved to see those deep discussions the characters had throughout the manga. Few manga really challenge you to reevaluate your worldview and core values.
It's okay I guess. Didn't like the repeated sexual assault (forced kisses, touching), but what can ya do? I know the genre I'm reading.
I prefer the second couple. They actually communicate with each other. When one of them was doing something problematic, they talked it out and resolved the issue. They don't adhere to yaoi "gender" roles (though I'm sure they would have if they'd been a main couple instead, or the fact that they don't would have been the entire plot). I find both members endearing in their own right. One of them isn't an utter jerk who only has his looks going for him.
And no, I can't remember any of the characters' names.
P.S. If this many "straight" (gay) people existed, we'd be nearing extinction. It's like a fucking disease. One guy has it and suddenly they're all crushing on "straight" friend-kun. (Spoiler alert: he's just as gay as your gay ass.) There must be like a 10:1 ration between straight girls and straight guys in trad yaoi manga. Maybe they have like 15 kids to compensate for the gay couples who don't have any. I guess omegaverse solves that problem too, but still doesn't give an explanation for how omega males shit out of their uteruses baby holes
i totally agree with this but the last part. Its not to be taken realistically ( the large amount of gay couples in the manga). I'm not a fan of omegaverse as well but at this point I just write it off as yaoi hentai bullshit. I feel like it isn't a huge deal if there's a huge number of gay people in this manga. It's probably not meant to be realistic anyways.
