If those who do not like Roxanna find out about an addiction to her mother, they will want to harm her eventually. That's why she tries to distance her mother from herself to protect her.
I think she blames her for her brother's death because she thinks she should have protected him better, but honestly what could she really do. She did constantly remind her kids to do well with the family education because she knew that was the only way they could survive but they never took her seriously enough. I wonder how her mum even became a part of such a family with how soft a person she is, I feel like she would have been forced Anyway, I hope she forgives her mum and tries to get on better with her, because her mum is also traumatised from Ashil's death
I don't think she blames her mother for ashil's death... I think she just genuinely sees her as a burden She never tried to get stronger even after ashil's death and she really only can cower in a corner so why would she go to where danger is She will only be distraction roxie and maybe cause her injuries
reason parents are hated - when they preach, but instead are meek, even when their children suffer, fail to grasp situation and not prevail with a mindset of their own but following the same damn values that were imbued in them initially
the result - her son died and she couldn't do a damn thing, and there is still a possibility of her daughter dying like wtf if parents are supposed to be loved, they should also be resented though here her girl is just more practical and of course how can she simply "love" her back, the pride and protective stance in her nature came after she stopped being an affectionate person
Roxanne kinda talks about it in chapter 5 after her mother comes to visit her, she says that she doesn’t blame her for not being able to protect her or her brother, but says she can’t embrace her any longer. I kinda just interpreted that as Roxanne not being able to her as a her mother anymore. She views her mother as weak and cowardly and doesn’t really respect her anymore. So she treats her the way she feels about her, with her mother she doesn’t need to pretend to like her or anything to survive like with her father or uphold her reputation in front of her. I’m assuming she’s just treating her the way she feels about her. I don’t know if that helped, that’s just how I see their interactions ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Roxanna is quite rude to her mother, why is that?

basically it's her mothers fault that ashil died. she wasn't being a mother and protecting them, she's weak willed
