Yall are so funny

Okay but like… the whole point of this story is the “willful negligence”. Read the manhwa’s title again and understand it. It’s not just ‘toxic relationship’ for the sake of drama. In-seob knows exactly what kind of person Woo-yeon is—he knows about the antisocial personality disorder, he knows he’s gonna get hurt—but he chooses to stay and love him still. And Woo-yeon knows he’s hurting In-seob just by being with him, but he still can’t let him go. That’s the tragedy. It’s two people clinging to each other even when they know it might destroy them. It’s not about glorifying toxicity—it’s about showing what happens when love and damage are all tangled up.

At this point, I feel like people seriously lack reading comprehension. I’m pretty sure some of y’all just scroll through the images and skip all the actual dialogue. And no, I’m not saying you need to read the novel to understand—this manhwa alone already gives enough depth to get what’s going on. I’m so tired of seeing the same comments like “In-seob should leave him” or “this is Stockholm syndrome.” I came to the comments hoping for some deeper takes on the characters and the plot, but it’s always the same surface-level stuff. If you can’t handle the heavy themes like rape, violence, or psychological trauma—this is rated 19+ for a reason. Don’t act shocked. If that’s too much for you, maybe this story just isn’t meant for you.

Finally finally someone who understood this whole story

    So true

This the comment I've been waiting for! Even a quick search of the meaning shows "Willful negligence involves a conscious choice to ignore a known legal duty or RISK" which is exactly what these two are doing and it always baffled me why people were so surprised why neither of the 2 left each other when it was the whole point of the story even up to this last chapter when it feels like ML is letting him go. It's all just him giving MC a vacation expecting him to return

I've also loved how beautifully written the ML has been with his personality disorder and the way he slowly lost control of the perfectly copied emotions he had when it came to the MC and how with him, he developed a real understanding of emotions but just displayed them in all the wrong ways and even tried to manipulate MC with his new found emotions not realizing it was love already he was feeling. Meanwhile our MC with his conflicting emotions of Revenge and Deep longing for the ML (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ they are such complex characters and I never got to discuss them coz people just dismissed them as psycho and a pushover

Well said. "Willfull negligence" in itself implies knowingly allowing harm to be done in some way. In-seob is fully aware of Woo-yeon's true nature and even dangerous personality. He's a smart guy; he knows the whole thing is toxic and he shouldn't even love Woo-yeon in the first place, let alone continue forward acting on those feelings, but he consciously makes the choice to do so anyway And Woo-yeon knows that In-seob understands all this, too, and comes to hate how he hurts In-seob later on, yet he can't stop himself from doing it all the same. At this point they have both consented to be in the relationship and accept what that means. It certainly might not be healthy in many very serious ways, but this story isn't glorifying a toxic relationship like some mangas and manhwas out there (nor is it one of stockholm syndrome). It's telling the story of these two characters and their somewhat screwed up love history with one another, and how they are willfully negligent participants in it, disregarding their own or each other's well being. I, myself, highly enjoy it for that reason (and for the art, cause damn!!). I find it so intriguing, especially how they have navigated Woo-yeon's APD in a realistic way, and how he develops feelings for In-seob in his own way without breaking his APD identity (as in, In-seob isn't magically the one exception to Woo-yeon's disorder for romance's sake; Woo-yeon still struggles with navigating his emotions and lack of them, agonizing over trying to figure out if what he feels is his equivalent to love). I like the subtle but meaningful expressions in each panel, the intricate emotions captured so well on each face, and the complex array of feelings or motivations that drive each person in what they do and say. This manhwa is still certainly not for everyone considering its inclusion of violence and sexual assault, and it's okay if that's not what you want in your stories, but I hope people who still want to read it appreciate the elaborate relationship for what it is: love history caused by willful negligence.

Wait so at the last scene mc was in the hospital bed because he did jump on the first scene right?

    WAku March 13, 2025 8:01 pm

i think the first scene depicted how mc wanted to escape the crushing reality of losing his loved one by drastically imagining suicide to ease his pain over dealing with the fact of seeing his lover die in a fire. at the last scene, it was revealed how the monster was actually the burnt, disfigured, and unrecognizable face of his lover which made him connect the idea of him to a monstrous being that made him fear this unknown man because that wasn’t the side of him that he knew. so i think, mc actually was caught in the fire trying to save his dead lover; survived, then was in a coma with that dream of accepting what had happened and processing the fact that his lover was hiding something grotesque from him.

    Omg I’m going to cry

Yep, this is also my take, and that the rest of the one shot is us in his subconscious after the jump. The 'monster' who he thought saved him is a manifestation of his dead lover telling him to live and survive after his failed suicidal attempt. The end where the monster is revealed to be the burnt body of his dead lover seemed a lot more like acceptance of his reality (i.e., his lover died from the fire), and the 'thank you for coming back to me' was thanks for the visit but time for you to return to the land of the living because dead lover didn't want him to die. I did see WAku's post and its an interesting interpretation, but I don't think there's anything that directly points to the MC trying to save his lover from the fire - if anything, he realises in hindsight that there were signs he missed and he regrets not doing more.
