Okay. If you want to know, in a nutshell. . . . . . . . . . . He betrayed Penelope.
As background info, he never intended to stay in the Duke's household. Original goal was to lose the collar and run away and get revenge against the people who enslaved him. Eventually though, Penelope became important to him and he decided to stick around. But since she was also in a bad position at home, he decided that he'd take her with him when he was ready to run away.
Eclise was nearly 100% before the time ran out, but Penelope couldn't max him out because he was able to tell that she wasn't in love with him. He could tell that she was using him from the start, but he didn't care, because it meant that he was still the closest to her...until she started to fall in love with the prince.
Anyways, stuff happens, he asks her to run away with him and she refuses because of the game plot making her paranoid as usual.
So Eclise gets the Brilliant Idea to find the Duke's original daughter, since bringing her back will get Penelope kicked out of the house and she'll leave with him. (No idea how much of that idea was his, and how much was Original Daughter brainwashing him with her magic handmirror.)
But anyway, he brings the daughter home, and Penelope has a huge panic attack because the daughter appears earlier than scheduled, and she's definitely going to die now because she didn't 100% anyone's affection towards her.
Penelope ends up freeing Eclise from slavery and banishes him from her sight, which shatters him...making him more vulnerable to the Original Daughter and her brainwashing. The daughter spends the next couple chapters brainwashing Eclise to help her with her plot to destroy the world, which he does because he's brainwashed into thinking he'll be able to get Penelope after everyone else in the kingdom is dead.
