like i get it, author is trying to show that jaekyung is violently possessive and that he has some attraction to dan in a way he can't cope with bc he's emotionally stunted & has zero empathy, but bruh, can we stop dragging kink through the mud, can we stop linking it with rape, and can we stop with the rape-as-plot? the art is too good for the lack of consent.
hey, i feel like this comic is more taboo than many other gay adult comics, and that it might be a magnet for people going through depression. so, if you're also part of the depression gang, please remember that this is fiction, and if you're spiraling or making a plan, please consider contacting a regional suicide helpline. whether you're 72 or 15, whatever you're going through, there are other options, and things can get better or more comfortable, but you have to reach out. i also want to make clear that you're not bad for having suicidal thoughts or thinking about death. regarding suicidal ideation, it often means you've been stressed to the limit. that's from circumstances, that's not you, and circumstances can change. ultimately, what you decide is up to you, but i hope you decide to keep living.
personally, i'm right there with you. my most recent attempt was a few months ago, after my rx ran out & other shit hit the fan. i failed in my attempt, but this drove me to find resource links & contact a temp agency to find better work. so now things are stable, slightly improved, and i'm clawing my way out & rediscovering little joys again. and i hope that you can also find stability & joy in your life, too.
as for this comic, it's so early on. it's hard to guess where it's going beyond our planner & our ceo smooching. i hope it's more of a comedy than a tragedy. i wish i knew more of the author's work, that might help indicate the general flow & mood of the story, but who knows!
so it seems like the translation is a little confusing, but it's not like the context of the art helps clear up much. the author seems to be creating a story more like old mythology than modern stories. old myths tend to be very, very strange, unpredictable, and sometimes more of an allegory than anything coherent. there does seem to be some coherency, though. if you know your asian mythology you can just skip the next paragraph tbh.
first, peaches in chinese (and other asian cultural) myth are a food of the gods that grants longevity & immortality, similar to ambrosia of greek myth. so they're literally divine. they're also a symbol of fertility & have been used many times as carriers for divine human-like beings. having the mythology to allude to seems pretty foundational with this story.
now, from what I can gather, MC is a magical being from a strict, small (blessed?) tribe, and the people (or maybe just the special ones?) are able to bestow their own life force as edible pearls. being that the ML runs a place called Dream, we could infer perhaps this club name is literal, but if not, it seems to be in a divine realm, and as such, things won't make sense as they do on a normal, mortal realm. it also seems that either ML is a possessed man, or a wholly supernatural being that can glamor/shapeshift into the human man we see. this is also why the mention of souls, crossing the river, and the proposal of going to a hell-like place fits in, as these are common in old mythologies across the world. as for the flying dicks, i don't really know. they're old fertility icons that were used in ancient rome, but I don't really know how they tie into this other than general fertility imagery & otherworldlyness. the rest, I have no idea wtf goin on.
anyway, people tend not to hallucinate & create highly strange tales from alcohol. if they're on something, it's not booze.
Thank you for the references, it made sense somehow but I still think the author was not sober
nah this author was definitely on some shit, like some not-legal-in-korea-or-the-rest-of-east-asia shit
