Need more explanation on hachi x okuma relationship.
There's a prequel called "Hachi" (which is actually spin-off of "Momo") that is all about Hachi x Kuma/Hanabi, if you haven't read that.
Hachi, Kuma and Hanabi were classmates ... Kuma and Hachi started a relationship that turned out a treasome with Hanabi ... but Hachi ran away because he found out that he fell in love with Hanabi, and Hanabi also loved him but this caused Hanabi to turned into a porcupine everytime, and since a porcupine is smaller than a human body, Hanabi was hurting after every transformation .... Hachi was traumatised seeing the person he loves hurt, and also because he hurt Kuma when he chose Hanabi.
When Hachi ran away he had severe sequels of the trauma, he lost his sense of taste ... finally, after some years, Kuma and Hanabi found Hachi and after talking a lot they finally cleared all misunderstandings, it turned out Hanabi started to love Hachi since they were children ... I hope this clear something? Maybe not
