I Will Surrender the Position as Empress
Not exactly the nicest of romances. The who I really hope isn't the second ML (emperor) is a toxic and traumatized POS. The story plays the trauma like an excuse for his shittiness and I'm not here for it. The minster of defense and the one I really hope is the ML is sweet and I can't wait for fluff of when they get together. Worldbuilding decent. Plot is good. Tension is great. Characters are largely awesome (aside from the mistress who is a classic trope of the genre). I can't wait to see all the things out MC gets up to!... And the enviable downfall of emperor and mistress. Ch 30
Falling for the Enemy
I should have known by some of the comments (to paraphrase not really enemies just misconumicators) that I wouldn't enjoy this one. Fine enough story but I am clearly not their audience. I had hopes because action and love and that sounds awesome but this wasn't the easy love. No. They had to flip flop back and forth because they weren't talking to each other. Maddening. Some of it was understandable but there was so much assumptions and ARGH. I got annoyed with things enough to quit near the end but stuck it out cause it wasn't that far off and maybe it'll magically get better (it did not). The worldbuilding was painfully clearly built are misogyny bad and for some likely dumb reason mages couldnt fall in love. I thought maybe it was a poorly disguised comparsion to gay or mixed "race" relationships (but with all straight couples). But at least it was unique. Poorly done though cause the lore kept switch about (but maybe that was translation errors). I enjoyed this a 0 out 5 but because I'm clearly not the target audience I rate it a 3. Tension decent. Plot....fine. characters are largely fine. The MC (FL) is not well done though. They flip flop between her being sorta badass (mostly through other characters description) and a Damsel. Which I am sadly used to. But the worse part for me was the lack of drive. She fought for her position but then just went well I got it now. See spoilers for other tea. Ch 48

SO when she decided to stop loving him cause his dad "killed" her parents I was like stupid assumption but semi-understandable one to make. The lack of talking kinda made sense but not even a chapter later she was all (internally and to her brother) but I still love him only I don't cause I don't love him anymore. GIRL. An I don't know would have been fine. An I can't do this would have been fine. I honest to God thought great now they're finally "enemies' I'm here for the slow burn. Nope she had her feelings wrapped up and decided to love him again like a chapter later (and maybe decided not to act on them for another chapter but either way it was wayyyy too short to switch from FUCK YOU! To I wanna fuck you). Which made her feeling and her personality feel weak. Other people brought up the lack of respect for her chapter as she somehow bounces between the comic relief and the love interest instead of being the MC. Hadn't realized this at the time but oooh boy she does. Plus she got the "I'm not like other girls" energy. Second tea the ML. Unremarkable aside from the fact I do not like how he's loved her since the beginning of the story. It turned it into a sped run of enemies to lovers (which is by its nature either smutty or slow burn). I didn't appreciate him bouncing between she's badass and God forbid a woman go into the desert it's dangerous but we swear this isn't misogyny he was was worried for her...which we swear also isn't misogyny and is totally only because he loves her (onesidely). The ickiest thing of all if the DM club. The manipulation of MC instead of working with ML to get to a place were he can confess on his own was just eww. I was actually on board for the anti-DM club just because I needed some conflict outside of the MC-ML failed communications.
Overall it feels to rushed (both in plot and story construction). The worldbuilding isn't really thought through. Cause somehow it's unheard of a woman Duke but a woman archmage that's fine. And I'm honestly surprised no one suggested at oh no a woman Duke meeting that she wouldn't get the title her first born son would. This would force her into marriage (and kids) very quickly. But then she'd never become a knight and oh no where is the plot going. This convient lack of this suggestion screams only misogyny when convient. Not to mention her men completely accept her as badass with essentially a sneak attack with aura. Not training in leading knights or battle strategies required only swordplay here. Where the commitment to the bit.
I Became the Tyrant of a Defense Game
This is sweet! Loving the mix of dungeon raids and defense battles. It's prefect for switching up the type of action. It is a little power-uppy though (with drops) but since it happens at the end of a battle it's fine. Love the characters (great personalities and even the main supporting characters are well thought out). The plot is excellent. Worldbuilding is great. But this could change. They just added what is likely a bad allegory for race and slavery in with non-human races. It falls into all the same traps (like logical racism cause they had a massivce battle). It's pretty typically of the genre but it takes me out of the world with alot of the choices surrounding elves. Tension varies but overall it's great. Can't wait to read more especially since we left on a cliffhanger. Ch 64
Path of the Shaman
Didn't get too far. Wasn't feeling the spark. MC was strong and scheming but his personality was bland. The worldbuilding was info dumped and largely skiable. The action was okay (no tension).I had hope cause high score but it was bland. Ch 15
Avoiding the Heavenly Emperor
I am loving this worldbuilding! Overall it's amazing but I haven't read a webtoon combining ancient and modern Korea before (and it's done beautifully). Plus the idea of music as magic (it's not called that but it's how I understand it). The characters are great (some of the side are clique but who cares). The plot is great - it's fairly light but filled with emotional ups and downs (and some dark bullying moments so trigger warning). The romance is slow burn (although I'm missing the teasing between MC and ML). The tension is amazing considering it's just a series of tests with no literal lives on the line. Can't wait to read more (especially when MC finally figures out who the emperor is)! Ch 110
My Mom Entered a Contract Marriage
Gorgeous art! And the story is *chef's kiss*. Pretty much everything is amazing. The worldbuilding is largely light but it's delivered so well I didn't even think about skiming the little info dump (amd there's like 1 in the entire series so far). The plot is great balance of light and heavy (trigger warning abuse in beginning plus flashbacks for MC and others). The characters though are the peak of this story. Normally almost everyone immediately liking the MC would be weird but she's just so darn cute that not liking her would be weird. Plus I'm loving the pure sweetness that pores out of the story because of it. I can't wait to read more! Ch 43
My Sweet Enemy, Thy Name is Husband
Little bit weird he cares about her so much having spent like a day with her in a past life (but maybe they have secret past or he had prophetic dream about their current happy life). Sweet couple either way. I prefer this traumatic backstory (1 bad brother instead of an entire abusive family) cause it has the potential for more conflict rather than destroying the entire abusive family and calling it done. Plot is pretty light so fair with little tension but I think it's building. Worldbuilding is eh? Unclear right now why magic is regional and why the north with dying magic still can make magic tools but maybe I've misunderstood something. Plan on reading more cause interested in where this goes.
