    Hm I’m not sure if it’s refreshing exactly, but this was a very unique BL that was well researched with beautiful art http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/tsuki_to_kin_no_shangri_la/

    I’ve never read anything like it in terms of setting, but it does have the common unrequited love trope. Spoiler/warning for an unsatisfying ending tho.

    idk if its really refreshing but smells like green spirit. Its quite short and sad but it feels more real compared to a lot of other BLs

    Houtou Musuko to Koi no Ana - even though the yaoi breaks so many different laws its refreshingly well written imo

    The Good Teacher - mainly a smut yaoi about the seme not knowing how to do anything sexual and the uke teaches him, they end up having a private sex ed class.

    Mother's Spirit - (i'm halfway done but it's good so far) mc teaches a native american foreign exchange student japanese and helps him adjust to the city world. it's a pretty sweet yaoi.

    those are yaois that are refreshing in their own way, but not necessarily shocking. ones that have a REAL wow factor are below, from best to least best.

    Walk on Water - a VERY well written adult yaoi (includes lots of smut). its not your usual yaoi where there's fluff in every corner, but it has a mature charm to it that draws you in. i'd rather you read it instead of me explaining it.

    Reincarnated into Demon King Evelogia's World - hear me out, you may not take this yaoi seriously at first, but it is GOOD. if you're looking for something new, try a small seme, buff uke, but then add isekai and then bunny-like seme being the broken demon king.

    Enthusiam - another yaoi where its a bit hard to discriptively explain it in my own words. it's mainly smut based, however it has a storyline where you're not really sure where the story is going. at times i did get tired of seing straight smut, but then it throws things in there that makes you want to keep reading. another one that makes ya wanna tag along.

    Killing Stalking - who hasn't read this?

    (and i know you asked for yaoi but if you're even the slightest bit interested in just men being submissive in general i recommend [S Flower] and [Sadistic Beauty], the mc is a female dom but they have submissive boys in it and imo they're a very good read.)

    I'm in the Philippines. I can find manga in certain bookstores too but it's usually very limited.

    Yeah, the only other option that I have is Amazon. Or if you go to some publisher sites, you can buy digital copies. For example suBLime (the BL publisher) has the option to buy the digital copies as PDFs for some of their titles. So you can always look into that.
