The amnesia trope is going to make me spiral into insanity, i've already beaten my fists into my pillow. My brain is not ready to handle the relationship sabotaging and misunderstandings about to be brewed. But, then again im still going to sit my big ass here and read through all of it, i am only praying this rock in the path doesn’t back track the story completely and the two mains can overcome it quickly. Please end well!
Such an entertaining female lead, she was very relatable and funny to read throughout the full story. I’m glad I waited to read this for when it completed, as it was very worth it. All the characters were quite engaging, same goes with their development. I absolutely adored the male lead because oh my god was it such a breath of fresh air to finally have a complex and healthy male lead! A+
I can’t even bring myself past 10 chapters, this manhwa has been sitting in my waitlist for 4 years so I had the epiphany to say fuck it i’ll finally pick this up. Mistake. I wasted my time even trying to force myself past even 5 chapters but I somehow made it to 10. To lay it out bluntly the fl is one of those typical “bruh” girls i’m sure many of you have had the misfortune of coming across. She is just so….. ignorant and unbearably annoying, there are so many ways to write a strong willed respectable fl but this manwha just misses the entire mark. Her personality is the equivalent of self inserts on wattpad that 5th grade schoolgirls write about. It’s just SO embarrassing to read I can’t even force myself to finish it. The ml is also one of the most bland copy paste “obsessive” characters that are just shit in general, nothing special. This story has had zero impact in hooking me in at all, the premise of this story in theory is great sure. But the execution? Lacks everything in terms of likeable characters. Is it so hard to create characters that aren’t corny to the extent that I will have to set my phone down every minute throughout reading almost every interaction because of the secondhand embarrassment you feel?
I think you didn't give much chance to the story. I also originally thought it was going to be full of red flags and that I would have to read it more like a psychological thriller instead of a historical romance drama, but it wasn't like that at all when I kept with it. Around chapter 20, I think the real plot took off where both leads have character development. Neither of them truly become "perfect" people by the end of the main story, but they each grapple with their main flaws and try to change themselves for the better so that they can be happy together. Yes, the FL is always kind of blunt/tom-boyish but she becomes more discerning after events and part over arching theme of the story is centered around her struggle with societal changes and views on how women "should" behave. Likewise, the ML unpacks his own issues that came from years of abuse. It's true that he is obsessively possessive in the beginning, but part of his character development addresses that and focuses on his own regrets that make him work towards being someone the FL deserves. The beginning was definitely rough with things that happened that were not okay, but by the end you really feel like they both put in the effort to be a good, healthy couple.
I think you could still give it a chance. I actually love the FL's personality. She's bright and lovely, and also a little spoiled when she was a child, granted she's wealthy and a noble. But she's also a little boyish. She stood up for the ML not because he interested her, it's because of her principles. And also because she's impulsive (this was emphasized many times in the story).
The thing is, she lost everything as she grew older, materially speaking. She also lost her parents. But if you ask me, she's brave enough to face the world with a smile. She didn't lose her bright personality and she actually managed to stand for herself. She's a genius in business and sales so she got to stand as an equal with the ML when she grew her own business. Do note that this was without the ML's interference. They split up for 2 years and he had no idea (literally) where she was because she didn't follow through their plans and went in a different country instead.
The ML is someone I actually didn't like in this story. But that doesn't mean the author sucked at writing him. He's scary, twisted, and a complete red flag, but at least he's trying to accommodate with the FL and let her fly by herself instead of cutting her wings. He's actually well written as a character and he's hot. I just don't Iike him personally. I don't like men like him, but that's just my personal tastes.
I really hope you'd give this story another chance. It's actually good if you read it to the latest chapters. It didn't focus much on their love story, that's why you can see that this is made by a mature person.
They focused on their environment instead. They had to face political, economical, and traditional issues where the royalty and nobles are losing influence. Money is more valuable than title and women are slowly joining the workforce.
The FL also had to face bias and crazy superstitions as a woman and as someone with red hair so it was a blast reading her journey. She never gave up and had the guts to face her challenges with her head held high.
So yeah, I'm whipped and I fell for her, sorry for the unnecessary fangirling.
