lol, as a muslim myself, it's very funny to see the portyrayal of many things. but yes, it's ignorant, at least when you want to use a culture as the base of your story, you need to get in-depth into it and understand it.
One of my all time favourites, if not the best manga i have ever read in terms of story, romance, characters, historical accuracy and story building is "Red river". I geniunly recommend it , if you never read it, it's a straight romance.
but yeah! It's funny at times and frustrating at others.
