I read and finished the novel. I can explain and maybe clear up some confusion if you guys have any questions.
This is yaoi allrightლ(´ڡ`ლ) SPOILESS
It takes a while for things to heat up between Il Ray (seme) and tae-ui (uke). IL RAY is a bit of uncontrollable psycho jackass so the relationship is rocky from the start (and there is rape scene ao beware if you don't like it) but when he loves, he loves intensely. The best part of the novel was seeing how gradually IL Ray's behavior and emotion towards Tae-ui changes. I mean who knew this psycho monster can love? Tae-ui is super likeable. He is realistic and knows when to stand up for himself. It's funny how he is not ashamed of using low tactics to take advantage of the situation. He also has weird habit to talking to himself lol It seems like there is a love triangle in the beginning g, but in greater context, it is a red herring and the story focuses on Il Ray and Tae-ui's relationship.
About the whole confusing family situation, in the novel they clarify more as the story goes on. But, it goes like this: the "dad" is infertile so he asks his little brother (the uncle) to donate his sperm. The brothers have good relationship so the little brother agrees. So the uncle is their biological dad. But, he sees himself more like an uncle than a dad and that is how the twins view him as too. There is not much of a drama regarding this.
1) The sex with Shinru ("third wheel") was not rape. Shinru approached him to get him off Tae-ui's back. Shinru is the first one to notice Il Ray's growing interest in Tae-ui. IL Ray just happily accept his advances because Shinru's face was his type and he also want to get a reaction out of Tae-ui. IL ray is kinda fucked up on the head has a very weird outlook on sex lol There is a rape scene between Il Ray and Tae-ui. This was before Il Ray noticed his feelings (he denies it for a long time lol) and he is kind of a kid who doesn't know what to do with a feeling that he never felt before. The rape scene is kind of a major turning point for the two.
2) There are no multiple couples. It might be hinted that a guy is romantic interested in Tae-ui's twin brother but that is it (it was never confirmed within the story but it was strongly hinted). The main story strictly focuses on Il Ray and Tae-ui. I heard their are side couple in spin-offs but I haven't read them yet. The main story doesnt have other couples. The uncle and Kyle are just friends lol
3) Ah yeah I only heard about the existence of the spin offs yesterday! There is apparently three SERIES of spin offs: Diaphonic Symphonia, Suite, Raga. When I read the synopsis, Diaphonic Symphonia and suite is focused on Il Ray/Tae-ui and two newly introduced characters as couples. And yeah Raga focuses on Shinru and a new character. But, for the spin-offs, I haven't got a chance to read them because I didn't know they existed until recently lol So this is all I know Haha
Yeah he sleeps around lol In the novel, tae-ui sees him have sex with Shinru and he also see him getting a blow job from unnamed character lol He thinks he can have sex whenever he likes with anyone he wants (like he says he can rape people he wants) . He thinks like a beast: The stronger one takes all. Which makes it all more funnier when you start seeing him getting flustered when he becomes unable to do the same with Tae-ui LOL
It was only mentioned that he had past relationship (none was really serious) and he was a seme with them. He had something like a puppy crush on Shinru in the beginning and almost sleeps with him (he thought he would be seme but Shinru wanted to top him lol). Things don't go well with Shinru due to multiple reasons (which Il Ray is also part of lol).
Hmm then maybe you should drop this. IL Ray is a psycho jackass and he doesn't hide it. Since he is at the top of the food chain and always gets what he wants, he thinks the same for sex. Sex is like fighting to him: the strongest gets all. The rape scene is a major turning point for the relationship because it was the end of the line for Tae-ui. He put off a lot of IL Ray's
bullshit but he gets really pissed off about the rape. The rape happened when IL Ray was sick and Tae-Ui was helping him recover (I know what a Jackass IL-Ray lol). The sexual tension and attraction existed between both at the time but it was rape nonetheless and Taeui clearly acknowledges as such. More than pure violent rape it was more of they kinda like each other, but Tae-ui said no to sex, but IL Ray ignored the rejection. Tae-Ui takes revenge on this and runs away. OMG the revenge was so sweet LOL IL Ray gets pissed off (more sad even if he doesnt know) that he lost Tae-ui and tracks him down. When they meet again, that is when their relationship gets re-established. IL Ray is not a kind one and is more like a untamed beast. So, if you were hoping for something consensual and sweet, this is not for you. But, if you decide to stick on, you will get to see how Tae-Ui tames this beast.
I don't mind toxic relationships, but from this description, it sounds like Tae-ui is a pushover who just gives in at the end since he realizes there's no way he's going to escape this guy. Less "I tamed the beast" than "well, guess this is my life now, better get used to it".
No offence to Syxx, but the seme DOESN'T get tamed in Beast Must Die. More like he forcefully converts the uke into a depository for his emotional/sexual needs.
I'd recommend Nii-chan or Checkmate instead. At least there's an interesting back and forth between the leads.
Yeah it's in my to read list but the art is not really my cup of tea so i have been pushing it back lol I will get to it eventually. I call IL Ray psycho not because he officially is, but because I think he is crazy lol In official terms, I think he is more of a sociopath. But he is also neither because he is capable of love.
I went with 'tamed' because IL Ray changes a lot throughout the story because of Tae-Ui. There is also monologue by Tae-Ui saying he has made a monster into a human. More than a pushover, Tae-Ui is just a I dont care kinda of guy and if I am stuck in a situation, let's just go with the flow kind of guy. This guy can be chill as fuck while being kidnapped by terrorists (which happens later in the story lol). IL Ray later comments on it too LOL
Checkmate is already my all time favorites. I am already buying raws every week to read it lol.
I just got super disappointed.sex with sin?????... I understood when he had a bj by a random guy at beach and when he forced a kiss on shin to piss taeui. Those were before ilray develop complete feelings for taeui. But sex a full sex with shin ??? Both shin and ilray are piece of trash. Wasn't shin in relationship with ilray ; he slept with ilray to keep him away from taeui ? That's not an excuse for cheating.
And ilray pisses me off. He slept with shin while having feelings for taeui...so his feelings are not love...it's just some psychopath's desire of dominance over taeui
Uhhh I don't know where you read this but ilray didn't cheat on Taeui. Taeui & ilray and Taeui & Shinru were not dating when ilray had sex with Shinru. It was more situation of Taeui and Shinru having mutual attraction (honestly this is also questionable on Shinru's side because he has ulterior motifs) when ilray intervened. ILray doesn't have feelings for Taeui at this point. At this point he is more intrigued by him and sexually attracted to him. Passion is a slow burn it takes a while for the emotion to grow.
Shin and taeui may not have confessed officially but in season 1 shin made it clear to taeui that he's interested and even said to run away from island. What shin did is called two timing. And ilray may be a psychopath but I just hate it when he has some kinda feelings for taeui but sleeps with shin.
It's been a while since I read the novel, but I remember that they were not in a committed relationship. This matters because Taeui is a type to have casual relationship until he gets into a committed one. When he talks about his past, he seems like he got into a lot of casual relationships and one night stands. And I remember ilray and Taeui setting ground rules about how it is still a go for ilray to make a move on Shinru until they get into a committed relationship. But then again, my memory is kinda fuzzy on chronological order of things.
Ilray's feeling in book 1 barely scratches the surface of what he eventually feels for Taeui. Honestly, even by the end of Passion, it only shows a start of his love for Taeui. His emotional maturity is more shown in the sequels: suite and Dynamic Symphonia.
He is only interested (like curiosity and romantically) in Taeui in book 1 (I am guessing you are talking about the novel when you say season 1). And no the bj wasn't to make Taeui jealous. He was just horny lol Book 1 Ilray is just intrigued by Taeui and enjoy getting a reaction to him. And possibly fond of him (not in a romantic way) as a person to be lenient on him much more than others.
After ilray forcefully kiss shin to piss taeui, taeui confronts him but ileay say he can make a move dince they are not still a thing ...but taeui seems interested in committed relationship with shin and shin gives him what he hopes for .they didnt confess but it's still two timing. that's why i hate shin. And in the first place why the hell would ilray want to have sex with shin while his main target is taeui? To make taeui jealous???
I appreciate your description since it made me aware of this manhwa. I'm not going to read it. I hate people like ilray and shin. Shin is definitely two timing taeui his excuse for sleeping with ilray is to keep him away from taeui since he know ilray is interested in taeui.
And ilray is a psycho who can't love. I can believe in love if psychopaths but sleeping around with taeui's partner ,shin, when he has some feelings for taeui is just sick
Yes finally an update!!!
Anyone other than ikuro, his brother, and the wife can die for all I care. But, I am really enjoying how fucked up this manga is lol. So the latest chapter implies that the older brother is not actually fucked up in his head. His childishness and inability to speak must come from lack of education, interaction with people and being locked up in isolation.
I am up to date with the raws and I have to say: uke is such a BADASS and the sexual tension between seme and uke is MIND-BLOWING
The link pls ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
It's on ridibooks like the webtoon. I read bought it there and read it.
I saw the raws and I had a similar impression (>▽<) Unfortunately, I don't speak korean and I didn't understand anything.
Do you know why does the black-haired guy approach the blonde guy? Is his crush one-sided? And what's their relationship like?
Honestly, these questions are very hard to answer because their relationship is very complicated. It can't really be summed up to simple terms. Soo hyun (black haired guy) is a very complex and sensitive character (this is also pointed out by the eunsung). On the very surface level, soo hyun approaches eunsung because he only remembers being second best to him so he wants to be the one who brings eunsung to his downfall. But once again, I have to stress than this is what it looks like on the surface level. I don't think soo hyun fully understands what he wants from eunsung either. The complexity of his character makes this webtoon such a joy to read and makes you anticipate for the next chapter. You can't really sum up soo hyun's feeling toward eunsung as a crush, but sexual attraction goes both ways. But, one thing for sure: Eun sung is the most significant person in soo hyun's life.
OMG Thanks for you reply! And for such a lengthy explanation! :)
I don't speak korean, but I've translated some pages with papago and I wonder if Soo Hyun and Eun Sung like to play the dominant role in the relationship, which is the cause they like each other but also compete so it sorta drives them apart?
What do you think of Eun Sung? He seems to be really annoyed about Soo Hyun prying into his life, but has sex with him regardless? ಠ_ಠ
Eun sung seems to like dominant when it comes to sex and I think Soo hyun just doesn't like losing to him and wants to control and own Eunsung.
I think Eun Sung likes being dominant in sex. For Soo hyun, I think more than wanting to top, he hates losing and he wants to control and mentally dominate Eun Sung. They are not really at the point where they "like" each other. But, it seems like Eunsung cares more about Soo hyun than he lets on but we dunno how much because he doesn't really show his feelings. But small details show that he had interests (not sure what type of interest) in soo hyun since their school days.
Damn I don't know where to start with Eun Sung. Eun sung is such a complex character as well. He is more mysterious than Soo hyun because he hides his true emotions (I mean there is a reason why soo hyun gets so excited when he sees Eun sung showing his insecurity and weak side lol). He also has so much msntal and emotional baggage, which I think the story only scratched the surface of. The recent chapter seems to indicate that he regrets involving soo hyun in his mess because he cares for soo Hyun. Eun sung is actually a caring person and I think his cold exterior is one of his defense mechanism. Their relationship is very nuanced and has a lot of mind games going on so you can't just take it away from what it looks like on the surface.
Wow-wow-wow! :) thanks for such a detailed explanation :)
I agree that Eun Sung has a really interesting personality. He's mysterious, unpredictable and hot, and I hope he stays like that until the end ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
I think there was a moment where Soo Hyun thought that Eun Sung lost his spirit or something, and it weighted on his mind. Do you think he cares about him too?
Thank you!! I'm already reading these two :)
I don't know which exact scene you are talking about, but soo hyun definitely cares for Eun sung (maybe not purely like a normal person would tho lol). He is very possessive about Eun Sung and wants to be the only one who brings Eun Sung down (I think more mentally than literally). Whether he admits it or not soo hyun greatly admires Eun Sung's talent and spirit. He likes seeing Eun Sung vulnerable, acting submissive to him, and showing his raw emotions but he doesn't enjoy seeing Eun Sung being panicked or not being 'himself'. So even though he keeps saying he is gonna bring down Eun Sung from his pedestal and break his spirit, if it really happens, I don't think he is going to be happy. As the story progresses, it seems like what he truly wants is for Eun Sung to fully belong to him and look at only him (not in just romantic sense). Soo hyun doesn't understand this so it is kinda of fun for reader's to pick up pieces of soo Hyun's true desire from his inner dialogues and behavior lol I could write an essay about Soo hyun and Eun Sung lol. They are such complex and endearing characters.
Thanks I will give them a try
