Both of them remember the New Year Eve’s kiss. For Karlyle he remembers Ash’s face and his name and that kiss left him with lingering feelings (in the novel he said that he has dreams about that kiss often). Karlyle met Ash again when Ash was hanging out with Nick (Nick and Ash are not ex- boyfriends). For Ash, he only knows the name “Lyle” and that the other person is an alpha, Ash couldn’t see Karlyle’s face. He believed they are fated and from that on, he started dating alphas because he thinks that if he keep dating alphas someday he’ll meet that man he kissed 6 years ago again
