****Just a heads up, but trying to make sense of the translated novel with my adhd was absolute HELL! My poor brain has caused me to gain a headache which I’m sure anyone who reads through this will get one too. But good luck we all gonna need it! And just to clarify, I’m still going to follow this story to see how the adaptation displays this plot unfolding.****
But! I need to see what was going on with the twins specifically. I saw a bunch of comments saying the MC was actually evil and the twin is a genius etc.
But just like I thought, that line up doesn’t make any sense and the novel doesn’t exactly say that. Or maybe it’s a perspective issue? So Ercia was in possession of the bomb and the MC decided out of THE ENTIRE FREAKING MANSION she wouldn’t search Ercia’s room. When confronting Ercia who revealed the bomb, that’s when she reveals their past.
Ercia goes on a rant about how MC was jealous and spiteful about her being the genius. The thing is, there is a whole paragraph explaining that BOTH girls were above average in the talent department. But because Ercia was further ahead, “unintentional favoritism” became a thing. Ercia was praised and expected to be the bright future of the household while MC was neglected and pushed into the roll of “you should do your best to support your sister”.
Can you imagine? Being stuck in this time period and having to share everything including your birthday but then being told that your exceeding talent wasn’t enough because your twin had more?
It explains that MC fell behind on day and fell causing her to gain an injury on her knee. While being bedridden, that’s when she got attention and the love she longed for from her family. And she interpreted as “if I am sick or injured, then I’ll be loved too without being compared!”. So MC did self harm but it was much worse than she meant to. Ercia found her and the entire family became absolute chaos.
Stay with me now, it got real odd. Apparently instead of, oh I don’t know, A FREAKING ADULT navigating the situation, the novel states that the choice was up to Ercia who was 8(?). Ercia decided that she would start acting sick and such (so do the exact same thing MC was intending to do but “for the sake of the family and her sister”) and eventually started making mistakes in her work.
Of course, she went from being known as the bright genius to not really being known. It was emphasized several times that Ercia considers the choice to be the only one and her own extreme sacrifice for the sake of the family.
What’s wild is that the MC expresses several times that she can’t recall much from the day of the accident and it was like it was painted over with black (likely a trauma response from almost dying). But Ercia refused to explain anything or reveal addition details saying it wasn’t her job. But miss ma’am……you’re literally about to blow the territory and your family sky high from hatred driven from said day?????
Ercia does openly admit that as time went on, she began developing a hatred towards MC (who would have guessed smdh). But it wasn’t about what the MC herself actually did. Erica went through the years thinking that if it wasn’t for the self harm accident, then everything MC has would be hers. Which if we were talking about being the heir or seen as the smartest sure.
But NAHHHH! Ercia went as far as to say the man MC has would be hers too if only she wasn’t purposely staying out of the spotlight. She blames everything on the MC including being left as know as the sickly twin and losing her parents as well. And yes…..the grandfather knows what happened during the accident.
All in all, even with their past it still doesn’t make any sense to portray the MC as evil. Her living environment literally push her into a poor mental state and then everyone went “oh shit” after something extreme happened. But instead of resolving things and creating a healthy living space for BOTH daughters as well as making sure that they are their own persons with unique talents, it was resolved with Ercia intentionally making it appear as though she was incapable. Deadass think that Ercia was denying the memory loss of MC to justify her perspective of MC being a villain.
Everybody was a victim in some way, shape, or form. However, Ercia was not a victim in the way she attempts to come off. She made her choice and then used MC to direct her hatred. Honestly, it was an issue of parental figures not stepping up where they should have. So no, I don’t feel bad for Ercia. She could have lived as her own person. Her actions (especially trying to literally annihilate her family) are not justified by what happened before the age of 10.
Everyone played a part in hiding what happened that day from MC. In my opinion, Ercia comes off as incapableof understanding/refused to try to understand what MC was going through but then had the exact same response when experiencing it herself unintentionally. MC just wanted to be loved but Ercia felt wronged, spiteful, and jealous. She wasn’t really focused on the lack of love. She was focused on everything else she could have possibly had if her twin sister didn’t get in the way. She holds onto the concept of her making that sacrifice to give her a reason for why MC is the whole problem.
It’s in chapter 121 of the novel btw!!!! (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
The ML states he is over 300 years old and a dragon/ dragon decent right? You mean to tell me you have been at this for over 300 years but have difficulty handling the humans causing problems? Yes, removing those who cause problems from living is not the ideal way to move with politics. However, there should also be limits to how much they can get away with. How the hell are you going to argue that purity is a problem for someone OVER 300 YEARS OLD AND NOT A HUMAN?! #-.-)
Maybe it’s a plot hole issue causing confusion and an uncomfortable feel to the story. But someone save the MC ( ̄∇ ̄")
I love the main character so much. She was so quick to let the fiancé know that they are going to follow through with ending things and that he was just confused by guilt and curiosity. Then my guy went through another round of reflecting and guilt almost immediately. I love how no matter how kind and close she gets to those around her who hurt her, she still draws a clear line that even if she forgives them she won’t be forgetting what they put her through.
I’m still in the fence about baby boy who lives with her. He has a valid reason for the way he interacted with her. But the “siblings” to lovers dynamic always makes me feel off.(〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
High pulse? Mf giving me high blood pressure. They had several cute moments. But every time we got 1-2 chapters of cute moment, we got 10-20 of the MC running away and trying to end things passively.
I was trying to understand from the view point of how stressful and difficult it would be to navigate the situation with a panic disorder (based of the label on the medicine bag MC had) but it still doesn’t line up. MC literally tore apart the relationship multiple times then would go “I thought you were ok. Being apart is deeply hurting me too but it’s what’s best”.
I clapped for the ML when he told MC that it wasn’t what’s best for them but what MC wanted and that the situation did deserve an apology. 56 chapters of this indecisiveness INCLUDING MC presenting and leaving the country to once again separate from ML but never revealing his presentation.
It’s old now. He hid the fact that they were once friends which still doesn’t make sense. Kept a back and forth going for literally everything. Looking at everything, MC has no regard for ML’s feelings and acts for his own self interest while expecting ML to just handle it. It’s extremely selfish and harsh towards ML who has been so supportive even while navigating MC’s insecurities.
ML being supportive shouldn’t require him to be the only one to take steps to make the relationship work. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
I swear my blood pressure is sky high from this. Maybe I’m reaching my tolerance limit for series with toxic MLs who think they can just be forgiven no matter what they do. I want to enjoy the series if it does develop a good plot. But ffs can we get some couples who treat the FL right from beginning to end? Why do they have to meet a quota of abuse and trauma just to eventually find a loving(?) relationship? (/TДT)/
I don’t feel bad if the elves get ripped a new one. She had nothing to do with any of that except being unfortunately born from a bad bloodline. Yet they found those horrid things acceptable. And the one who was supposed to be like a guardian? He can be one of the first to go to hell. I need more characters who half-ass things to be knocked out. It’s like watching a parent go “I provided the bare minimum and put up with you so you are indebted to me” after they intentionally had a child. (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
This might sound bad, but if the ML is going to flip his shit then I want it to be expressed verbally towards FL. He’s enduring and pushing but not getting anywhere with it. I was thinking about it and I don’t think the FL ever actually directly explained her reasoning behind spending less time together. She acknowledges that she is his entire world but doesn’t say anything and just lets things fester until something happens. It’s not her responsibility to get him straight, but it’s gross that she will take advantage of his fixation on her whenever she wants.
It feels like she doesn’t say anything because she enjoys the attention when she’s in the mood for it but then completely disregards him any other time. FL has options with what she can do moving forward, ML doesn’t really have options until he has a stable income to leave. So he’s practically trapped with the person who is actively making his condition worse. Also, everyone is aware of that guy stepping way past the line and causing problems but no one from the actual studio has taken measures for the models’ safety????? I’m about to flip out if the next chapter comes in and everyone tries to go off on him. I have a bad feeling FL will be one of the ones at the front of the line to talk down on him for having the reaction he did. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
