I never cared to join in on, like, I guess "hate" (even though I wouldn't call it that, I just can't think of a better word) but, like... Dan needs to get a better reality check. Same with Jae. Dan needs to NOT be developing feelings and he needs to leave his ass, and SOON. For the sake and character development of BOTH.

Mingwa is an amazing writer. Say what you want about the story. It absolutely is fucked up, I agree, but no one can deny that she's written Jaekyung's developing feelings for him very well, considering his character. I would elaborate on it, but anyone who can pick up on the subtle developments of Jaekyung's character knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I'm not even the biggest fan of this story, but I absolutely love Mingwa's vibes and can appreciate how insanely difficult it is to write anything in general, especially when it comes to story writing. Hell, people have difficulties making a good essay, which is 100% saying something about the skills of Manga Artists and Writers (especially since they're usually both).

"Jaekyung and Dan still have a long way to go"
"there's no fun in making it easy for them"
"let's all go down this rocky path together"
I love Mingwa, so self aware about what they're writing. I, personally, am a fan of the slow burn and no abrupt 'Oh, I super suddenly care' from Jaekyung. That would be actual poor/lazy writing and wouldn't feel natural at all.

I wasn't necessarily talking about Dan, and I get that, writing in concerns to his character is somewhat weak, but I moreso meant the development of Jaekyung in this story. I totally get the criticism though and your opinion is 100% valid. Hell, this is my own opinion too, which your free to challenge in the way you did! ^w^

oh, i totally thought you meant dan lol. but yeah overall i think i understand your point and think similarly too. i hope you didn't feel bad about the way i said it!! i notice know i sounded kinda rude but i meant it as a lighthearted comment :') also i feel that dan's character is a bit weak both as a character and in writing. some of his actions and thoughts feel nonsensical to me? maybe it's bcs i can't share his perspective (obviously) but it feels to me that the author is just doing whatever to make dan fall for jaekyung???

Oh no, for sure, I never read your comment as rude, or at least, it didn't come off that way for me. And like I said, I totally get the criticism of Dan and also think his writing is rather weak. I loved your comment because of how respectful it actually was! That's not super common in these replies. Somewhat, but not really, and I like when people are just respectful in general.

Disappointed it didn't become poly when it has so much potential to be one. They could've written romantic tension between Yohan and Yoojin since they were already HELLA compatible physically, and Jihoon would've fit into the dynamic beautifully, he wouldn't have fucked anything up since they both took an interest in him. And for once, finally, I could've read a webtoon/manga/manhawa that actually does poly some justice with a good story. Like, seriously, I don't think I know any good poly stories... T- T
That's not to say I didn't enjoy this for what it was, though. It was for sure hot. Sexy. I just would've loved it SO MUCH MORE if they were all **romantical** together~ ₍₍(ú/w //ù)⁾⁾
I love this story. Chaotic, messy, and toxic as fuck, but sue me, I have problematic taste when it comes to fictional characters. I just- UUUUGGGHHH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
as long as we know it ^^
in my opinion, I only feel uncomfortable and see problem when people refuse to name things they see in the story, for instance using the expression green flag where it doesn't belong. But enjoying problematic content whilst being lucid about it is one of the wonders of fiction. Kinda like watching horror and action movies?
But yeah really important to keep in mind that in the real world someone like TJ should be in jail, and completely out of the life of their victims, and the development we're shown and endearing scenes are not a reflection of real life abusers !
YES! Omg, yes, this is exactly the kind of mindset I have too! Everything you said, especially the horror and action movies thing.
People avidly enjoy watching horror movies, playing war games, and watching shows that don't reflect proper, or even healthy, relationships amongst the characters for the drama aspect! It's the same with problematic erotica.
As long as we acknowledge and know in our minds that this is not something to be condoned or even romanticized in the real world, it's fine to enjoy it fictionally, and that doesn't make you a bad person XD
Not gonna lie, though, it also makes me feel a bit uncomfortable when a person doesn't acknowledge those facts, even off handedly is good enough to not be disconcerting.
yeah, I think it makes me feel uncomfortable because it makes me worried people in real life would endure too much when suffering abuse, instead of running away, by clinging to a hope their abuser will change, or feel a duty not to abandon them.
I think it is in the public interest and especially women's interests (also man of course) that most people and hopefully all people have a good grasp / understanding of what abuse is, and how to protect yourself or another person from it.
I fear that since girls and women are veeeery often exposed to toxic romance stories, their standards for a relationship fail to see abuse as it is, and exposure to super toxic stories (which is the case here) may make less spectacular looking abuse look normal when it's really not. Especially controlling behaviours.
I'm very glad in a number of countries awareness is rising about abuse and I'm thankful to all the people that help protect others in all kinds of ways
It's definitely a valid concern. There are a lot of depictions of toxic relationships in every day content. And some people really do grow up thinking that's something they want. That there are people who can't quite grasp the reality of abuse, manipulation, and coercion, the absolute importance of avoiding it. But, yes, the rising awareness is very relieving.
