I think(?) I like that the sin of sloth is manifesting as depression, but I'm not entirely sure. It's interesting, because I don't think I've ever seen it portrayed that way, but I also don't think it's a great idea to portray mental illness as a sin. Maybe the true sin of sloth will be revealed as the inaction of those in power to actually support the boy in a meaningful way? We'll have to wait and see.
i believe bel is taking advantage of priest's existing depression to push him further into sloth, not that the depression itself is the sin of sloth. your idea about the inaction of those in power is really good!! i definitely think we'll be seeing that later this arc especially with bel's closing statement in this latest chapter!
So... Slen assaulted Toguto, right? Slen said he needed many partners, pushed Toguto down, Toguto said "stop," the panel faded to black, and Toguto says he hates Slen and will never forgive him for what he did that day. That's assault, right? Or is he talking about how he discovered on that day that Slen was being unfaithful? Either way, I'm much less supportive of them being in a relationship now. Give them both someone less toxic to be with.
I believe its both. Assaulting him and being unfaithful. Though I don't blame Slen for being that way because of Toguto's mindset. But yeah, I'm more supportive of Alta and Illeweth's relationship than theirs.
Slen truly loved him, but Toguto's words hurted him dearly. That's why he hated him & couldn't forgive him, how he only sees him as Another White Deer in a political point of view. So their friendship meant nothing to Toguto that time. Slen started to change, but still deep down wishes for him to notice him from who he was. But Toguto never changed his mindset. That's why Slen was seducing & sleeping around with every potential mates for Toguto (Is probably his way to Rebel against him). But even by doing that, won't change anything. So guess he snapped that time & assaulted him? (Though we couldn't really see, if it really was or perhaps he didn't continue. You never know he might have stopped & run away that time. Because Toguto has mentioned seeing Slen's angry face). Then Toguto woke up from reminiscing the past in his dream.
Thought about this the other day and came back to reread it. I agree the MC is frustrating, but I don't hold it against him. He's got trauma and his poor qualities are just manifestations of that trauma. It makes sense for him to act the way he does. What truly drives me nuts though, to the point that I want to punch a wall and tear my hair out, is the fact that the girlfriend forgave and took back that vile, cheating, pedo son of a bitch. Absolutely mind-boggling that she found that acceptable enough to begin dating him again and the fact that, as far as we know, he got his happy ending. Hate it. Burn him with fire.
Damn. I knew Cheneau had been stabbed but the author really did kill him off-screen. We sure are whittling down the amount of love interests Iana has. I wonder if we'll keep it at 3 or if someone else is gonna die next. We can only wait and see~
Well, this disappointed me. I've read a couple of "reincarnated with my abuser" stories, and by far this one is the least interesting. The MC puts up hardly any resistance. You'd think he'd freak out or scream or tell his family that he hates the ML and doesn't want to see him, but instead he just acts like a stray cat who's slightly wary but not particularly difficult to win over. Plus, the story absolutely rushed through their reunion. There was hardly any angst, hardly any sense of helplessness and defeat as the MC tried and failed to stay away from the ML. They met as kids in one chapter and were years-long friends who grew up together in the next. Very disappointing.

I feel like I'm getting whiplash. In Chapter 8, the MC goes from getting triggered so badly he punches the ML in the face to immediately letting the ML kiss him. And then in Chapter 9, they're literally getting each other off. Is he supposed to hate this guy or not?
Really not a fan at all of "I used to view you as a child but now I don't." 17 and 28 is a bad-time pairing regardless if the girl is the older one. No thank you.

Ikr she constantly reminds us. Like leave it be and we may think "well 17 is pretty mature in that world" but no. She says "He is a child" or "oooh thats a sulking teenager" like bro stfu. Also why 17-28. You want him to be young make him 18 or 19. Make her 24 and it will still be convincing that she was a workaholic adult. That author surely has some weird fantasies bc this story could be told in sooo many ways while still making it morally acceptable.

I'm fully assuming my boy Aeyi is ace. The author never says so explicitly, but it's mentioned multiple times that he has no interest in relationships and if he's a happy single cat dad at 28, I feel like all the clues are there.
As much as I enjoyed this story and its characters, it's getting to the point where I'm starting to feel kind of bad for the author. Most of the panels now are empty and lifeless. There's no backgrounds, no details or shadows, no screen tones. It almost feels like line-art. Is the mangaka getting too old? Does she have no one helping her? Or is she just tired of the story? Whatever is going on, the art just doesn't feel like it has the same heart in it, and it's very saddening.
Yeah I was wondering if she had health issues and needed her assistants to draw most of her panels, but it's almost impossible to know what's going on since she has no social media presence:(
Because both the pacing and the art have become really weird at the same time and the change was really abrupt, so it doesn't feel like she just changed artstyles over time (although that has happened as well)
She's had health issues and then had surgery last year for something she had kept putting off or not taken seriously. Read somewhere the health issues are why the panels got less and less detailed over the years. Which makes sense, at this point I just appreciate her continuing on and possibly finishing the story.
There is also the chance of getting a complete version once the recompilation book is out, if these chapters are from the monthly publication is normal to be "more empty"
It also happened with the chapters around the 30 or 50, if you read the monthly it was almost all white and some characters barely tinted then on the recap book (tankenboun I think?) Or was all the detail done
That makes a lot of sense!! I hope she takes the time to recover, I love her work (and at this point, what's wrong with waiting some more, you know) and I've reread both skip beat and Tokyo crazy paradise soooo many times
This is by far one of my favorite BL manga, and I am so happy to have finally been able to read a translation of the final volume. I'm definitely purchasing the whole series.
