can anyone please explain what happened in the anime because I am very confused the first 14 episodes were amazing and at the end of 15th episode it made no sense if he looks the same now and then? I am being vague because I do not want to spoil anything for anybody who may be watching it we're going to watch it please send me a message explaining what happened if you would not mind thx.

It’s because the anime focused more in the past. There were times where the episodes were supposed to go back and forth from present to past but the anime decided to go and elaborate the past more. So basically what happened from episode 3(?) onwards happened in the past and by the end of episode 15 it went back to the present, with Wei Ying waking up having dreamt of everything that happened. He looks the same then and now in the anime for the sake of conveniency I suppose which gave some confusions at first. If you love the anime, I suggest you read the novel because then everything would be crystal clear.

If you wish more details, just say so but for now, if Lan Zhan didn’t recognize Wei Ying because of his eyes glowing red, it’s because a lot of cultivators also tried to practice the dark arts like Wei Ying so it’s a little common. But actually, that moment, Lan Zhan might or might not have recognized him for a very different reason. *wink wink*

Hmm in the novel it’s still a few chapters away I’m sorry I clearly forgot (maybe chapter 30 less or more) but judging from the rate of the manhwa’s releases, we won’t see it for a few months or even maybe a year yet. You can try to read the novel, just search for exiledrebels scalations under the name GDC or God of Demonic Cultivation. It’s such a fun and emotional read.

The same song Wei Ying played on his flute the time he summoned Wen Ning when fighting the goddess statue was the song Lan Zhan played for him when they got stuck underground with the tortoise beast. There’s even a clip on youtube playing them side by side. That moment on, Lan Zhan knew.
