I just don't understand why all of you are pissed to the orange haired guy. I mean, yes, he's kind of irritating but that kind of friendship is much way better than the other toxic friends who reply "then die" when their friend is depress. (base on real life situation)
But that orange haired guy is not the "kind" best friend for a suicidal or self harming people. In fact those kind of people is too much for a depressed person. He was just forcing his own belief of "happiness" on someone who is depressed. Which is pretty nonsense considering depressed people doesn't really know the worth of their own life. So they don't even know what happiness is. I don't really have a real a friend who is really that extreme. Although I do have some who attempted to do it. But really even a normal person like me will be really pissed off when someone tells me "Hey you should date with that person. He's kind, he's perfect for you. You will thank me later." Over and over again. I think these kinds of people is toxic too. Although his intentions is good. But his methods is wrong. Because they just define happiness by themselves. This is the definition of an egoistical person.
This kinda friendship can be just as toxic as someone who says “just die” bc he’s blackmailing that person. The friend will feel constrained and think they have no way out and won’t be able to find happiness with the person they like bc they’re being blackmailed to be with people who they can’t share that emotional connection with. Not only are they being forced to lie to everyone but also to themselves about their sexuality. Let’s just say that it was someone else who was so depressed that couldn’t tell right from wrong and didn’t have any self worth do you really think this type of friend would help them? If anything it would make things worse and could make that person think I want to be away from this person so much that I would choose death as a last resort(extreme situation). It’s like you owing someone money and then being blackmailed until they receive all the money you borrowed and not being able to get away from that desperate situation/ cycle. Hope what I said makes sense.
