Anyway from what I can gather, Hazel was his sunbae, he came to ash whenever he has problems (as he explained to Lyle) it's true that they dated but Ash didn't consider that relationship like so because he felt tricked. Hazel left him and went abroad. Hazel want to come back into Ash's life so he started with the friends. No one knew what really went on with the two and why they broke up that's why they've been supportive of him.
How Ash came to explain it to Lyle:
After overhearing the friends gossip, Lyle went to his room, overthinking, Ash came to talk to him, they had a little argument. Ash understandingly gave him space, Lyle fell asleep and woke up calm but panicked when he noticed Ash weren't there. He found the note telling him he went to the company, told him to eat, and wait, cuz they'll talk later.
Lyle couldn't wait and went to the company, then he discovered Hazel and Ash standing in close proximity, they were obviously talking but Hazel was making flirty moves on Ash. Shocked, Lyle left completely misunderstanding, his mind going haywire. Eventually decided to come back cuz he wanna fight for his man. That's when he ran into Ash who's mad cuz he just ran after arriving, following ash was Hazel.
So turns out, Hazel just came there without warning and tried to appeal to Ash. Imma tell you this Hazel got audacity to mention that they're both alphas and couldn't bond, which is Lyle's root of insecurity. So, Ash shut his delulu ass down in front of Lyle saying that they're long over, Hazel ended it when he left out of the blue. Told him to stop feeding his friends lies about their past and that they never bonded.
Hazel lied about everything he told Ash's friends to get close to him. At some point in this conversation Hazel basically still tried to say he left an open door for Ash, of course, Ash also shut that down, but really The nerve. Lol. Hazel ran away embarrassed and this is when Ash drag Lyle back home and briefly explaining his past and talked. It was a warm conversation.
