Listen, I don't hate Jeanette, but I don't love her. I just feel uneasy around her because of what happened to Athy, the fact that she is trying to worm her way into the family is unnerving to me. She's not even related to them, why should she even bother? Like focus on yourself. It's your fault that Claude lost his memory, I just don't want you around anymore. Seriously. Go do something else with your free time, learn how to leave people alone maybe? Sorry, just people like Jeanette really bother me. If you have no business there, you have no business there. Move on.
Edit: Oh shit- I didn't mean to start a debate- I was just giving my opinion (⊙…⊙ )
I understand where your reasons come from, but she thinks she is releated to her, and is her sister. So I can understand why she has the feeling of wanting to be with them. And in the dukes house she was only there, but not treated as family, just as a guest, so I understand her lonelyness. But that does not justify her clulessness.( ̄∇ ̄") she is too clueless, and too trusting when she just choose the hairpin what a stranger gave her and the princess had her headache right before collapsing and coughing blood she could have caught on. But Athanasia as well could figure out it finally it is driving me insane. ┗( T﹏T )┛
Though I don't really feel much as much for Jennette as I do for Athanasia; but I'm going to point out somethings:
Jennette Margarita is the daughter of the fallen tyrant (Claude's older brother) Anastacius and (Claude's former fiancee) Penelope; however, she wasn't born as the symbol of their love. Rather she is the result of Anastacius' experiment, a product of black magic. Anastacius created her in hope that she'd possess far greater than his brother's. The purpose behind her very existence was Claude's doom. Nonetheless, she lost her 'real' father before her birth (because he was 'killed') & and her mother died giving birth to her.
She grew up with no one to call her own. She was all alone, as she looked up to Athanasia and Claude as her only family. She was unaware of the bitter truth, it being that she wasn't Claude's daughter.
She built her world on the foundation of her twisted desire of being loved. Being raised without a proper ‘family’ Jennette becomes hungry for love, something she truly desired from Athanasia & Claude. Due to her overly-idealized view of a perfect family, she always thought Claude and Athy would accept her without any questions, only if the 'truth' was revealed that she was Claude's 'daughter'.
Nevertheless, just because they weren't Claude and Athy weren't father and sister to her, didn't mean they weren't family. They were her uncle and cousin. All she wants is to be accepted.
I wouldn't say she's the reason why Claude lost his memory, since Lucas already said that since Athy's magic is related to time her mana storm triggered the spell he casted on himself to go back in time, hence making him lose his memory. On the other hand Anastacius was using his daughter, he was slowly molding her wish of a family to use in his favour. He took advantage of her naivety.
However, no matter what she went through could never compare to Athanasia's pain. She was unaware of the true nature of her birth and of the destruction she brought to the people around her.
At the end of the day she was left in the darkness, she knew nothing but wished for more. Yet ahe also feared that she'll lose everything as if all her loved ones were like sand slipping out of one's fingers.
I don't think she should be 'hated' though it's hard to be fond of her due to how annoyingly naive she is. The story is very detailed and thus shows stories from different perspectives. While Jennette was a ray of sunshine to Athy, Athy was her whole sun. Someone she looked upto, however accidentally overshadowed because of her ignorance. I'd say she was the reason behind the 'eclipse'.
Woah such a good explanation. The sand comparison is really good and expressing exacly how it might feel for her. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
I would only like to say that Athanasia had her mana run out of control when she wore the hair clip she got from Jennette, wich had dark magic in it or something like that, so I think that was the trigger for her power to run wild when she came into contact with the energy doggie.
Also with how Claude took the damage in her place I think he also got the dark magic thing in the hairpin(since only Jenettes presence can calm his headache) as well as Athys magic, since Lucas was unable to help him further than to just relieve his pain and give him a bit more time.
If I remember right I am not sure but was not the thing about Athys magic being related to time reverse only a guess since they had no other lead then her magic exploding?
I am not sure but maybe the darkmagic in the hairpin was for turning back or reversing someones time( this because then it would explain why Athy and the dog became one so suddenly like that and Claudes memory loss and current state as well) or reactivated the old darkmagic Claude used in past or something like that and thats why Claudes state is what it is.
I also think that the brothers plan was exacly this outcome, since in the flashback we got in a chapter showed us the happenings after the original story and
a Claude who sufferd from the same symptoms.
╥﹏╥
Thank you for the explanation! I already did know about her being gaslit and I do hope she finds happiness of her own. After all, she was raised to not question anything at all, I think it's more so I dislike naive characters. Like I said, I neither love her or hate her, her heart is in the right place but her objective falls short because she comes off as clingy and bothersome, after all, she did steal the one thing Athnasia wanted since she was a young child. But I'm glad to see different perspectives!
Lucas said before he left he is making sure that Athy Mana won't run wild, but then Athy wore the Hairpin Jenette give her, and when she come in contact with the Doggie, her mana explode, this is what Anastacius aim for, but he didn't expect that Clause would lose his memory. According to Lucas, Athy magic nature was to reverse the time, it's not just a theory, Lucas could see this is Athy third life, her first life was the OG Athy, her second life was the Korean girl, and when she died in second life she goes back to her first life.
Yeah there are people who hate her too much.
( ̄へ ̄)but well, everyone has their oppinion.
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
And no worries I got a feeling that you were not attacking. Than, you would have used a nastier words. ( or at least I use more vulgar words when I mean to harm) and would not have explained your point of view. (=・ω・=)
I never said I hated her, I never said I liked her. I just said I feel uneasy around her, if you read the novel, you know her intentions are not as pure. Please re-read before making any comments, nobody is obligated to like her or dislike her. I don't have to like her because you do and you don't have to dislike her because I do.
well uh yeah you don’t have to like her but I said in one of my earlier responses I was trying to direct it towards the Jeanette-dislike community.
I’ve read this manhwa I think more than 30 times but it’s different from the novel, kind of like how book/movie spin-offs are different from the original.
But uh I apologize if I sounded aggressive? Or anything. It was supposed to sound playful, I’m not the best at expressing myself.
Aight im with u with the i dont like/hate Jeanette thingy but i cant blame her for trying to worm her way in. Here’s my argument: it’s not her fault NO ONE IS TELLING HER A SINGLE THING. She’s not a bad person per se, I can’t even say she’s ignorant bcs she didn’t choose to be ignorant in the first place. She’s always been left in the dark by the people around her and she doesn’t even know she’s misinformed. She’s a child who longs for a family more than anyone in this series aside from athy and for her, the only way to have that was to be closer with BOTH athy and claude. She didn’t exclude athy, in fact, i think she genuinely liked athy as a sister. She never felt the need to “replace” athy. Is it bad to long for a family when u have always felt like an outsider since forever?
I know it’s her fault why claude lost his memories. But there’s a gray area here. She didn’t deliberately WANT to. She chose a gift for the right reasons, she didnt do it just so she could male claude/athy suffer. Was it her fault that the gift was tampered by her asshole her father???? No. That’s like blaming an innocent child who didnt do anything wrong for their parents’ sin. I don’t think she would’ve done it if she knew about the magic and all that shit bcs she seems to be a genuinely good person, empathetic especially when it comes to athy.
People also seem to forget that it was her too who asked Claude if he missed athy and ultimately led to their reunion. If she left Claude all alone in his thoughts, i think it mightve taken AGES before he realized it. It’s what led to athy being able to return to the palace again. So I don’t think she’s THAT bad of a person.
Im tired of people giving her unjustifiable hate just because she’s jeanette and not athy and when she hasn’t even done anything deliberately wrong. She’s the victim in all of this without her even realizing it which is the saddest thing of all. She’s being treated like how the original athanasia was treated in the original novel, receiving unjustifiable hate for being themselves without doing anything wrong and just longing for a family. It aint fair for both of them.
No offense to the author but can we move on please? I read the novels and there's more to the plot than Claude forgetting Athy! It's getting a little dragged on now :/
For context; NOT the up loaders. The up loaders are angels, I'm talking about the plot.
Would you mind giving me spoilers? Or even just dropping where you read that plot? If not that’s okay!
