I still wouldn't say it's love. For me, love is to care for a person and make them happy. It might start with attraction and then turn into love. But when that attraction wears off and there's only possession and selfishness left... I wouldn't say there ever was any love there.
Well, I can't really judge what's there inside his heart, but I believe a person's actions is the mirror of their feelings. So even if a person says they love you, but will only torture you, I find it quite absurd to believe in that.
