We all read the story, Loki cares about his "slaves" and and isn't some fucked up brown guy selling his own people. Like hell i just remember one black slave in the damn but so nobody better pull that racist shit, like I'm black too but black people play the racist card too damn much, use it when there is an ACTUAL injustice against people of colour.
It was a wonderful story by the way, though i really didn't like what snow prince guy did. Like that ain't it
Isn't it strange that different black people can find different depictions of slavery in fictional works uncomfortable and/or well-written or not? That SOOO crazy! Almost like we have different brains, thought processes, and experiences! Kind of shitty of you to say people are "playing the race card too much," because they didn't like the way a person or a topic was depicted. Just like some people have the right to be an asshole and call someone a "fake woke white savior," others also have the right to not like a story and comment on why.
With this story specifically, if the author wanted to convey a caring person who had more authority over a group of people, they could've, like, made Loki a tribe leader or SOMETHING! But the author specifically chose the title "slave owner," for... what? Because he's dark-skinned? Because the story takes place in a dessert and they're going for the, "~Vaguely Arab, 1001 Arabian Nights~" aesthetic? It doesn't make any sense. They wanted to push the point that he "cares" about his slaves, and that they loved him so much they would deny themselves freedom to... stay with their captor? What? With an uninspired ending like that, what sense does it make to make being a slave owner a large part of Loki's character? Quickly! A tribe leader who've fit the story and aesthetic way more effectively than slave owner. It would've made Loki a stronger foil to Gran. However, that IS /my/ opinion. Or is that me, "playing the race card?" You tell me.
Look, no one brought their own race into this whole thing until people started assuming everyone on this site was white, that they were ungrateful for not liking the story, and had no ability to critically think about the stories they read. That don't sit right with me. Denying that fiction is immune to criticism solely based on the fact that it is fiction is unwise and objectively wrong. We not finna do that today.
ohh if all the slaves were all black then i would have played the race card but there was like two black people in the whole story and he hardly treated them as slaves and he did try to free them. And to be honest we do play the race card a lot, i know this because i have.
