...and I came to love it even more. The dialogue exchange between the two is one of the most engrossing things I've read. Remembered checking it out at first and I was like "this looks cute and the set up is hot, I could it use to pass time," and then after reading 3 or 4 chapters I was "oh, wait, why this so deep and so engaging like this? these are real people wtf."

he knew it was impossible and so wanted shouta to hate him. as we can see shouta does not see him as partner only a friend. so he would rather be hated and this is the fastest way to make that happen

you are right but sadly i think some of that choice comes from the demand of the audience for smut , which gets in the way of the story the author is trying to tell. but i agree there are many ways to show conflict and this way is not the right way
