I think it's messing with the prince's emotions. Like he said he didn't know what exactly he was feeling but he felt like he was loosing to sedin. Because originally the villain should be giving the prince attention. So prince knows he should be receiving attention from mc but he doesn't know why he feels that way. Does that make sense? It's just my theory tho.
