I’m not sure if I’m understanding you right but, I think it’s explained in the first few chapters. I don’t remember it exactly but I think it has to do that they are the gonna take the thrown or something, the name of the first born child, heir to the throne. Anastacius was originally the crown prince and was supposed to rule but Claude killed him, Aeternitas was also an emperor, and same with Athy. Since Claude wasn’t supposed to be the emperor in the first place, he wasn’t given names like theirs.
