The story starts with a date rape and a pregnancy because of that, the rapist and the victim then get married. And I think this story wants us to look at rape and manipulation the same way the 2000s looked at fatphobia. It’s supposed to be funny. It isn’t. We later on get a clarification that it wasn’t actually a date rape but that feels like an after thought from the author because of backlash.
