Well, that's the thing, rape works as a traumatic plot device in psychological BL, because it's portrayed to be toxic, manipulative, and inhumane. Any romantic story with a happy ending that features rape is a paradox. Rape doesn't lead to happy endings, it shouldn't lead to redemption or forgiveness, and if an author does try to do that, it just goes to show that both they and the readers that eat it up are incredibly out of touch.
