Desharow merman manhua is based upon the original 2012 novel, during which at the time Chinese censorship didn't take place up till they added a new law in 2017. So most of the novel's contents had to be censored in order for these scenes to be approved by law, keep in mind the OG author "Mr. Deep sea" themselves even got arrested for releasing a non-approved physical release book of their recent BL series and was sentenced for 3 years.
