It sucks that these people think their children owe them everything by 'virtue' of giving birth. "I fed you and raised you so you need to do as I say"? So your children are no different from decorative plants that were 'tenderly' maintained just so their owner can show them off and use as a trophy of labor. Geez.
It gives me goosebumps knowing that type of mindset actually exists in real life.
My blood pressure is rising everytime they show the empress and emperor ughhh
I really like how their relationship is kept with a vague label, like sure, there's some nudging about how they could potentially become something less "ambiguous"... but does that really matter? They are content with maintaining an intimate yet respectable distance. And that's perfectly valid! It also feels organic.
This is so much better than a story that pushes an explicitly romantic development between main characters because //apparently// that's the only way to show affection.
Anyone know other stories that are just PURE adventure? With main characters like this manga who are either too young or too old (this age range removes 'romance' as an aspect for development). So their narrative is different from mainstream young adults or teenager MCs.
I'm okay with romance as a sub-plot as long as it only involves side characters and is just part of an arc development. Sorry if I'm being to specific!
The other works that I liked which gave me same vibes are:

AAAAAAAAA I categorize those titles as sentimental or wholesome narratives... and I thought Gomi Hiroi no Tabi was the same because it gave me the same warm feeling of positivity despite the circumstances ;;
Maybe I should have given cute or just pure fluff titles instead ( ̄ー ̄;
The one recommended by @akira would be closer what you're looking for I think, because it doesn't have much hard-hitting drama (yet) -- I enjoyed reading it!
Guys, he's a lost cause --- he's hopelessly in love with Judith (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)
Although I won't brush off Judith's past life as a murderer (whether or not it was forced/she didn't have a choice), it is good to see that she is making an effort to be a better person...
She deserves all the love she can get after experiencing a past life with nothing but death and loss.
Hopefully the black-haired captain dude won't ruin things for her again!
His inferiority complex is showing, hah.
He acts like some other rich bastard who has a romantic interest... he thinks that Charley should feel grateful that he is interested, and therefore is obligated to return his feelings.
"Why doesn't she like me? I am the king!"
Dumbass, that's all there is to you. A king. Remove that title of yours and there's nothing remotely interesting about you.
There's just something euphoric about seeing living trash get their asses handed to them through karma.
Revenge thrillers with batshit craycray yet calculative protagonists are just //chefs kiss// who cares if they end up like their victims when they got what they came for anywayss
