the ones you listed are mostly as popular as they are, because they have gorgeous art and gorgeous men. bitches will simp for literal abusers as long as they are attractive lmao. but it’s probably also because those manhwas have tons of hate watchers, and are 80% just smut which is a very popular market. not all popular bls are bad though, it’s just the oversexualizaton and oversaturation that clutters the genre.

A lot of them are popular because a lot of the bl community fetishise and enjoy rape and they have a lot of it obviously that won't be the only reason but I think it's definitely a factor although painter of the night did end super cute however I will forever wish I could unread pearl boy wish I never read it same with jinx can't stop reading because then it's like I went through all that for nothing but hate every chapter

While POTN did end with a cute ending i think the main concern is the rape being glorified and fetishised there. And the way its such a popular genre (thus glorification of rape) in the name of fiction is concerning because its not just in the bl community but in general the whole book reading community
