Tbh it's probably the main reason he was wanting to change was jeongmin but then she revealed that she never really trusted him or believed he would change and dumps him without a second thought, in her defense she's seen what he could do and her dad just died so she's not really at fault

Hahaha I suppose it can get quite annoying but MC has his own problems and circumstances that lead him to act the way he does. I think his actions are understandable considering his personality and past.
He makes mistakes, has his own values and struggles with issues we all face like deciding what to do with our lives, mental health issues, ignoring and running away from our problems or acting upoun assumptions we made without actually listening to the other party. I personally find him an intiguing character but I agree, some misundertandings are a little too strecthed out for dramatic value which make things annoying.
