Oh I remember that one. The MC was extremely emotionally manipulative, but it helped that the ML was conveniently so easy going about everything. Plus the racism in that manga was wild calling someone, “dark idiot”, referring to an Arab character. And the MC’s glasses best friend was a whole yikes. I know it was meant to be comedic but it was so problematic. I do not think top omega x alpha/beta bottom works not because I think so but because the authors who write this pairing don’t know how to write them in any way that is a healthy purposely chosen sexual experience between consenting adults.

it has been a bit since i read it, so i agree that the racism was really bad and inexcusable. the only manipulation i recall is the one with his heat (which was also bad, but abo is primed for dubcon unfortunately). other than that, the mc was just extremely upfront about his preferences and how that was a dealbreaker for him? and the alpha just had that personality, so i didnt see his complacency as a cop out or anything.

i do agree that the omega x alpha/beta genre in general is shit though. i just remembered being pleasantly surprised by this one since for the alpha, bottoming wasn’t a big deal, which i liked since im not the biggest fan of role reversal being made super dramatic. oh well
