Just to be clear - I think Joo is being abusive, insensitive and he has attachment and other mental issues but he's not as annoying as Dan.
I can't stand Dan overthinking stuff that doesn't even matter, saying things that don't matter and not saying those that do. He's naive to the point of being retarded. And also crying all the time. And I love Deku, crying or overthinking is not an issue here.
What pissed me the most: he never told the manager that he got an offer (an attempt to bribe) from the opposing team! That means they're ready to play dirty, it's dangerous for everyone. And Dan just got drugged himself and still didn't learn? How stupid do you have to be? Not telling Joo - maybe a good call but what about the manager? Security? Company? Someone? And it's not the first time he messed up.
My blood was boiling when I saw him sleeping at work and being too tired to do his job because he wanted to buy some random shit for Joo's birthday and figured waking up in the middle of a night (waking Joo up as well cause of his insomnia) and going alone at night to do deliveries was a good idea... Not to mention he saw how JJ reacted to that pile of gifts - he hated them!
The top is also a damn Champion and a celebrity, he can probably get that trinket for his birthday for free + get paid for promoting the brand! Dan's work as a personal physician (including sex in this case) is the most valuable and he wasn't doing it well. His priorities were totally off, that's incompetence and he could be fired easily.
JJ is very specific with his kinks and treatments and Dan is (theoretically should be) perfect for both. Doc could've bought some sexy lingerie / new toys, researched the newest treatments for Joo's shoulder and gotten some relaxing oils for a therapeutical birthday massage with a happy ending and a great sleep afterwards. It's so obvious what Joo wants and Dan did the opposite of that.
In conclusion... I can't even call him the main character of the story. I like most of the side characters more than Dan. And I can't say that I actually like them.
The bottom is playing victim 24/7 no matter what he's doing. There's nothing hot or righteous about it. Slave mentality being portrayed as if it's a good character trait. It's not. He doesn't understand his own value or how important his work and presence is for JJ. I hope that changes or the top falls for someone else.
