Some readers that take fiction way too seriously and mischaracterise someone to the point of evil incarnate and would rather villainise people for not hating said character outright lol. The type of people to be writing long essays denouncing Philomel’s actions and reducing all the good in her until there was no more of her left just because she felt insecure, betrayed and disappointed in herself that she was not the real daughter and in her childish outburst ruined a dress. But that is enough for her to be viewed as an evil that shouldn’t live.
