Sometimes these crazy titles w/ ridiculous summaries turn out to be gems, but imo this is not one of them. I saw some positive comments but figured I’d try but I’m out. Like once upon a time I thought when Japanese manga companies realized how much westerners loved yaoi, we’d get so much good sht. We did get quantity but the quality has gone down. Thank god for manhwas. Like idk why I even try with manga anymore. Like 1 out of every 10 are actually worth reading. The rest if I finish reading it, I’ve forgotten it after an hour.

The reason why you feel like manhwa are "better" than manga is 'cause most of them are just shorter adaptations of super popular novels or light novels. It's not that common for a manhwa to be an original piece. BWT is an example of one of the few manhwa artists that actually do their own original stories and don't just adapt a novel to manhwa format.
Manga artists have to write, create the storyboard roughs and more often than not do all of the final drafts by themselves. These cheesy one volume throwaway series are usually how they get their foot in the door with publishing companies. They aren't supposed to be these massive breakthrough pieces but moreso a showcase of their artistic skills and ability to meet deadlines. Yes, there are some amazing first-hit wonders for mangaka, but those are not the norm when it comes to JP publishing.
I'm not saying that manhwa are bad or unoriginal, but to say that they are better than manga is just ignorant given they paved the way for bl artists in the first place.

Also, this wasn't meant to be some profound work of fiction lol it's clearly written to be mindless, cute smut.
It'd be like comparing trashy dime store romance novels to Lord of the Rings or Gone with the Wind. There's no comparison to be had 'cause their intent is completely different.
If you want something with good plot read Majo to Neko or Bride of Ignat. There are thousands of bl manga with amazing plot and characters. Quit nitpicking at the porn side of it.

I’ve read an incredible amount of manga since 2012. I’ve read at least half the yaoi manga on this site, & that’s a conservative estimate. I’ve personally seen a drastic decline in the quality of yaoi manga in the last few years. It’s not that there isn’t still good ones, but the % of good to trash, has gone way up. Art is subjective so I’m talking about what I find compelling. Also a lot of manhuas often suck too, (many leaning to hard on smut & not storyline, & I don’t hate smut but I need a good plot to go with it), but they’re also less likely to rely so heavily on the same worn out tropes. I don’t even hate tropes, but if it’s lazy, using tropes instead of inspiration, it’s not enjoyable for me. so many mangas seem like they’re written by ppl who do not care at all. Like it’s a paycheck not a passion. Like I can read cheesy mangas, but there has to be some spark, some inspiration, like love of the genre. I don’t even blame the authors (I blame capitalism). But imo back before we got publishing houses opening up in the west, what was written came from a place of actual passion for the genre. I come to that conclusion bc yaoi was not particularly accepted in Japan &to be a yaoi mangaka over any other genre, meant it was for love of the game. I used to beg for companies to license manga here bc they’d see how feral we were for it. But imo it’s led to ppl who don’t love BL creating it bc of the market. Which imo sucks. If you’re fine with it that’s great, but it’s super boring for me

Lol thats funny, I actually feel the opposite. As someone who also has been reading yaoi for the past 20+ years or so, reading the nastiest and fcked up shit from ancient sites, I actually think japanese BL retains the most authentic love for the genre. There's a lot of trash in all of them ofc (manga, manhwa, manhua) but for me, japanese mangas have the higher floor and ceiling in terms of quality. Manhwas often do comedy better, but not depth or emotion. The ones that DO do it well often come from novel adaptations, some done by a whole studio too. But the ones that aren't? Sooo many of them not only use the same tropes, same plot, BUT EVEN the same accursed 3D models from clip studio paint. Webtoons are so much easier and faster to produce because of the endless scroll format, meaning they don't have to draw entire pages or panels. Traditional mangas have to be plotted out in an exact 20-30 pages, which is why I think when you say "done without passion for a quick buck", that applies much more to webtoons than mangas. When I get tired from reading webtoon slop, I switch to looking for Japanese BL instead.
Honestly my point is just, either could be true. The genre is just saturated

Yeah we totally disagree bc the emotion is what I’m missing in way to many new manga. They feel trite & unispired. Like they feel formulaic. Like always in the 3rd or 4th chapter some kind of drama happens, only to be neatly wrapped up by chapter 5 or 6. (If they’re not chopped up into 22 chapters.) I know that yaoi doesn’t get the same allotment of chapters as other genres (unless they start off in webtoon format) & that makes it harder to fit everything an author may want to add to the story, but it feels like ppl did a better job back in the day. Most of the new stuff is the cutesy porny stuff. I’m not even against porny manga. Like I get not everyone is a scarlet berico, ogawa chise or Ike reibun, but even some of the more trite stuff used to be better. Like even silly manga was better. And again there are still gems but I find myself not seeing as many recently.

Can’t remember why I quit reading. Was the tl wonky (big reason I quit)? Like is the manhwa better?

Thanks, I liked the novel a lot & can’t remember why I quit (& felt to lazy to check). 90% i quit a novel so far in is bc the good translator quits & it’s picked up by someone doing unedited MTL. It’s really frustrating bc I’ve read entire novels that was an edited mtl & it makes such a difference. I don’t btch about it bc i appreciate someone did the work on something im reading for free, but it really sucks when im halfway through a novel & suddenly the tl sucks. Anyways maybe I’ll try the manhwa bc bad tl’s aren’t as hard to read as an actual novel. Prob depends on how much i like the art.

Kinda refreshing that the seme’s is smaller. (Unless this author does a uno reverse on us. But jfc 7” is considered huge lol. Like I’m not a size queen, 8.5” is pushing my limit, but I’m pretty sure 7” is considered in the normal range. Anything much over 8” & it’s feels like my cervix is going to rupture.

Idk I’ve slept with a lot of dudes & most were between 5”-7”. Like under 5 was as rare as over 8”. Ofc it’s anecdotal. I think 7” is def on the large side of average but at least in my experience it’s not an abnormally large shlong. Also I once saw a 9.5” dck irl & it was fcking insane. Funniest thing is dude thought his giant dck would get me to sleep with him when it was the opposite.

Yeah you’re so much better off having sex when you’re ready & you’ve found someone you really vibe with. I had sex at 14 & it was legit traumatizing. I never enjoyed sex bc I didn’t know how to. Like I didn’t achieve orgasam during sex till after I gave birth to a baby & hit the point where I didn’t care about looking good during sex. Also those post partum hormones are fcking wild. My only caveat is don’t build it up into something magical & perfect. It’s going to be awkward & weird even if you’re super aroused. If your partner isn’t experienced in being a giving partner, it’ll be even more awkward. So best to masturbate a lot & figure out what your body likes and then be confident enough to tell your partner what you like.
& it’s quite good. The tl is good too. It’s under “Refusing Your Ex-Husband’s Obsession: A Guide” on novel updates
