You do realise that them not ending up together /the ending isn't happy does not actually mean that the ending is shit. I personally thought that the ending was beautiful and really bitter sweet.

Personally, I don't believe fully believe it. Like I do agree that it's harsh to separate a couple who do love each other. But in this case, with the way the story is told, this death did not seem unusual. By beautiful I meant that the story was well told even including the ending. Even though I would have prefered it if he didn't die, I can't say that this whole story was ruined just based on the ending where they did not end up together cause he died. If his murder something completely random then yes I'd hate it. I am fine with tragedies when the plot is consistent.
