I like the 1st one too, it felt like it had more depth. The MC was plain, but he had his moments... and other...moments ^^ which added to his complexity adding so much XD, the art style helped with the growth of the characters it also emphasized the beautiful MCs making stand out in their own way.
The new style isn't bad, just ... makes everyone seem good looking. And I feel that the MC seems like a sleez ball hiding a wicked persona while the first one didn't have that feel (though... ^^' its true his a sleez ball ^^') I liked how the 2 girl were beautiful in their own way Seo with Dark Beauty, and the 2nd was like the sun (squinting in the sunlight and not sure how to feel about the sunlight, but over time the sun's radiance feels like a blessing you don't miss till its gone).
But I'm grateful it still continuing, plus I like the new style for when MC is in the 'real' world, and the old style for the game.

I loved that I could tell which people were meant to be beautiful in the old art and that the MC just seemed like a clever dude in contrast to the shady feel of the MC in season 2.
The new art makes the real world awesome and the game look...meh, while the old art seemed a bit awkward in the real world but made the game world soooooooo amazing.
