honest to god Zay cries more than Nakyum from Painter of the Night. nakyum has an excuse though, he’s being forced to do half the shit he goes through and he doesn’t know what’s going on but zay’s just kinda wandering around doing nothing even though she KNOWS what’s gonna happen because she’s literally READ THE BOOK
we get so many fast paced revenge stories here i’m actually kind of glad this takes its time trying to get to know all these characters. i think it’s a very realistic take on how lippe’s trying to process all of this - according to her, her family & loved ones were caught up in a plot caused by someone that they knew but didn’t expect. she’s basically starting from scratch trying to figure out the who, why, when, and how of her past life. and she’s not even ten yet, so she’s definitely not in any position to be like a traditional FL who can ride out on a horse or go out into town and get answers for herself. most of her info has to come from interacting with every possible suspect (which, considering she knows next to nothing about why anyone would even WANT to target her family, narrows it down to pretty much everyone they’ve come into contact with)
still, i see where the criticism comes from. it’s almost 70 chapters in and there’s not much we know besides the possibility of multiple culprits in her family’s murder, and a possible motive for them to do so. still, the art style’s SUPER pretty and i’m not tired of the slice of life aspects yet. i think the main problem lies within the fact that the story reads a LOT smoother when it’s read in one sitting, instead of waiting for each update. i think the latter makes the story seem a lot longer and more drawn out than it actually is.
seungho said “i want that twink obliterated” and jihwa, wildly misunderstanding, said “i have a guy for that”
